They really meant base model then.  No radio, no air conditioning, no power steering, no antenna, no ABS, steel wheels, and really bad tires.

I added:
Air conditioning

Fitpaldi Monolithics with Dunlop D40/M2 tires
Hardtop
Racing Beat rollbar (style bar)
Driving lights
Luggage rack
Leather seats

MY SECOND MIATA-1993LE
Purchased in February of 1993.  The LE was a limited edition with production limited worldwide to 1500 cars.  My car was #255 in the series.   I crashed headfirst into a concrete wall at about 50 mph and totaled this Miata in February of 1996.  It had 58,000 miles on it.  I was uninjured in the collision.

In addition to the impressive list of standard equipment on the 1993LE.

I added:
Hard Dog Hard Bar
Custom turbo exhaust system
Smoked grey tailight covers
Hella driving lights
Dunlop D40/M2 tires
Lighted rear view mirror
Stainless steel instument cluster cover
Hardtop with rear defroster
Front and rear pained mudguards
