I only use two main themes nowadays. The first one is existentialism, which basically means that life is just one long deformation-process. When you're born you get some idiosyncrasy and some individual qualities, but because of upbringing, your live surroundings and other external factors you almost loose all of them. That fascinates me. I think that a search to your soul, your roots, is the ultimate answer to what you really are. Every human being has, deeply hidden, an instinct that wants to look for your roots. But not everyone gives in to that instinct. In my songs I try to use this theme on me; I'm convinced that my upbringing has made me something that's really far from what I really am. And that automatically brings us to the second writing theme: How rock & roll made me a caricature, how that became a vicious circle and how I must get out of there.

Billy Quotes...
"I'm not going to die glamorously. I'll probably be eating a Twinkie, take a bite, and fall over.
"I have a hard time thinking of men trying to sing my songs, because I think my perspective is definitely feminine."
"The simplest way that I can understand therapy, is that we're born a certain way, we're taught to be something different, and we spend our whole lives trying to unravel it.  The closer I get back to being who I really am, the stronger the music gets."
"Reinvention. I think that's part of what we do that doesn't get enough credit. We've attempted to reinvent ourselves on every album. ... If you have a widely accepted album, the album that follows it is the album that you really capitalize upon ...because now you have an audience waiting for more of the same. We refuse to do that."
I always promised myself if we got any success that I would use that as an excuse to go further as opposed to water down the music. That's the only impact it had. It made me feel more free, removing the basic question marks that you always have.
You give me a fucking kazoo, and i`ll write you a good song"
"If I had spent fourteen months in a small room with jesus,I'd want to fist fight with him"
*some girls are just no good. some girls are bad. some girls are just so fucked in the head. but even the worst girl isn't as bad as a man...
Im a Pisces and Pisces have this weird inability to be completely spontaneous. Were too conscious of our actions. Ive always been too sensible for my own good.
