| August 14, 2003: Article #1 BARNY THE FRUITBAT: BATTY FOR BLOOD? |
| Barny the Fruitbat is the mascot for the Ballycastle Bats Quidditch team and is featured in the butterbeer ads. He is a fictional advertisement icon and is known for his catch phrase: "I'm just batty for butterbeer!" This scarlet fruitbat was made up by the owner of the Ballycastle Bats and has never existed. OR HAS HE? An eyewitness account has recently informed the Quibbler that Barny is not only real- he's a real bloodsucker! The vampire was spotted on Mount Merlin by one Azya Frodic, 38, of Kent- practicing for his butterbeer ads! "He hypnotized about twenty garden gnomes- he made them watch him practice," says Frodic. "He is obviously obsessed with success in the advertisement world." Azya also revealed to the Quibbler the chilling tale of her miraculous escape from the bloodsucking, selfish bat. "Barny seemed to sense my presence but fortunately, I was able to sneak back to the village pub, Merlin's Beard, on the back of a nearby niffler. I stayed there for a few hours until I was sure the coast was clear of Barny the Vampire. I couldn't believe my luck- I escaped just in time- he was in a towering temper when I fled. Apparently, he couldn't remember his lines. I was so shocked when I found out the Barny the Fruitbat was real- I'm telling everyone I know. I feel that they need to know what a threat Barny is to the magical world." |
