As the sun rose over the hills, the compound was a flurry of
activity. Robed people we're coming and going from every where. In
the center of it all was Seska, watching over to see that NOTHING
went wrong.
A movement to her left made her turn, Kate was walking towards her
using the wall as support. Seska ran to her and helped her to a
chair. "You should have called me if you wanted to come out. I would
have brought you."

Kate rested the ungloved hand on Seska's cheek. "I know, but you are
busy and I can get around." Seska dropped her eyes and nodded. Kate
pulled her chin up. "I couldn't have made it through this if not for
you."
A monk scurried up to stand just out of range of their voices. Kate
spotted him and motioned him forward.
"Mistress, the plan is on schedule. The first wave is in place and
the second and third are on their way out. We have your car waiting,
if you would like..." He trailed off, head bowed down.
Seska took Kates hand and helped her back up. "Yes, bring the car
around." Feeling a little out of breath, Kate nodded for Seska to
finish.
"Bring the car up and have the ones left here to be on their guard.
Bee might just show up here. You can never be to sure with her."

The monk bowed deeper, turned and left. Kate was leaning more heavily
on Seska, so she swept Kate into her arms and carried her to the car.

Picking her way through the junk in an effort to keep up with Sam,
Bee almost tripped over what LOOKED like a stuffed gator. But when
she looked back it was moving toward the pond.
"I think you hurt Fred's feelings." Sam shot back without turning.
Bee walked a little faster and asked if Sam had any other PETS just
lying around. The laugh she got was not a comforting kind. Sam led
her to an old rundown storage shed.
"I use to have a boa but my ex took it with her." Sam pulled the door
open and Bee was shocked. The inside looked like a scientists lab.
She stepped back out, looked at the shed, then back in.
"How did you do that?" Sam smiled and said. "Trade secret. If I told
you then I would have to kill you." Bee started to laugh, until the
serious look in Sam's eyes stopped her.
"Ok. Well you said something about this stuff..." Bee motioned to the
collar, " was still in the testing stage. So how did you know that
and what is it?"
Sam walked over to a desk, shuffled through the papers then pulled a
file out. "Here, this should help explain. Just don't hold any of
this against me...please." She handed Bee the file then went and sat
behind her desk.

Anna rolled over and stretched. The smell of coffee pulling at her
still sleepy mind. She threw back the covers and grabbed a robe. The
smells only got better the closer to the kitchen she got.
Kes was standing at the stove, flipping over some bacon. "This smells
good, but you didn't have to make breakfast."
"Oh I don't mind, I like to be helpful. Would you like a cup of
coffee?" At Anna's nod Kes poured her a steaming cup. "I didn't wake
you did I?" Anna shook her head no, then took a sip of the coffee.
"Nope, I was just lounging around. You know, being lazy." Kes smiled
at Anna, then handed her a full plate. "I hope you like eggs and
bacon. I don't know how to cook much else."

They we're talking at finishing cleaning up from breakfast, when the
front door bell rang. Kes jumped and Anna motioned for her to go in
the other room.
Just as Kes ducked behind the bedroom door, Anna reached out for the
front door handle. The door was forced open, throwing Anna back
against the wall. As she tried to stand, a figure towered over her. A
hand closed around her throat and lifted her up.

"Miss me...." A voice hissed at her. Pulling her closer to the
covered face another voice was heard.
"Don't hurt her.... leave that.....to..." Kate was in the van trying
to stop the coughs.

Anna looked into Seskas eyes, she knew it had to be Seska, and saw
pain and anger. She pulled Anna close again and hissed at her. "You
will pay for what you have done to my Kate. I will skin you layer by
layer, slowly... until...."
"ENOUGH....(cough).... bring....(wheeze)....her...."
Seska shook Anna one good time then placed the rag over her
face. "Nighty, night `princess'."

Bee closed the file and looked up at Sam. "So your telling me YOU
invented this...(pulling on collar)... STUFF!!! WHY!!"
Sam cringed at the anger in Bee's voice, but held her eyes. "I was
trying to help out a friend. She was injured in an accident. It
was `designed' to be a bone replacement, ya know, take the old, worn
out joint and replace it with this." She pointed to the file.
Bee rubbed her temples, `this is just getting better and better'. "So
how do I get this thing OFF?"
"Well ya see that's the hard part. There are only two ways to remove
it once it has been formed."
Bee looked at her, waiting for her to continue. "WELL?" Sam opened
the middle drawer and handed Bee a business card.
"Take this to this address...(writing)... and ask for Dozy. He was
one of the original team working on the project. He should know who
can help you."

Bee took the card, slipped it into her pocket and turned to
leave. "You find the others, or is that where your going?" Sam asked
her before she got out the door.
"WHAT others? How many of these DAM things did you make?"
Sam dropped her eyes to the floor. "We had 30, not including the
proto type." Bee stood open mouthed. "The one you are wearing is the
proto type. It's the only one with......" Sam stopped and looked down
at her shirt.

Bee took one step toward her, until she saw the blood stain spreading
across Sam's shirt. Sam looked up at Bee startled, then yelled,"
RUN!!" Just before her head hit the table.
That was all the incentive Bee needed, she was out the door and
sprinting across the yard towards her bike.

Bee jumped on the bike and hit the ignition switch. The bike roared
to life and Bee gunned it. She could feel shots whizzing past her,
but couldn't hear the shot. Just as she turned onto the main road a
searing white hot pain lanced through her side.

Ignoring the pain Bee opened the throttle wide and gripped the bike
like a life line. She made it at least 15 miles before the lose off
blood caused her to pass out. The bike was on it's side with Bee
lying next to it, when a truck stopped beside her. The last thing she
saw was blond hair and a pretty smile......
