Septren Details
Septren is a 27 year old male Yuan-ti pureblood.  A perfunctory glance gives the impression of a human, an impression Septren strives to maintain.  He is 5'7" with a slight stoop, weighing 163 pounds, with very long limbs.  Despite his gangliness, he is toned and graceful.  He has a slightly sallow, very angular face. His rarely seen smile reveals a vaguely forked tongue and over-sized incisors.  He is completely hairless, due to the reptilian taint in his blood.  A layer of green scales covers his long arms and legs; he keeps them covered at all times when in public.  His eyes are his most distinguishing feature, the true betrayal of his Yuan-ti heritage.  They are large and dark yellow with black vertical slits for pupils.  Septren constantly shadows his face with a forest-green cloak for fear of someone spotting his mutation.  Erane, his animal companion, is with him at all times.  Septren has a raspy, deep voice, which is occasionally accompanied by a lisp, to his chagrin.  First and foremost, Septren has a love and a bond to nature, not only because of his training as a druid and ranger, but also due to the bestial nature of the Yuan-ti.  He is perfectly content sleeping under the stars and hunting for his food.  Contrary to Yuan-ti teachings, his first instinct is to resolve conflicts peacefully.  When events do escalate to combat, he tries to subdue enemies with non-lethal poisons if at all possible.
Septren's mother was Erana Bellator, a paladin from a long line of paladins.  Seconds after his birth, Septren was showered by her blood after his father, Grim-Grin Guivre, decapitated her with glee.  Grim-Grin had captured and raped Erana nine months ago, a breeding experiment to make stronger and more human-looking Yuan-ti.  He chose Erana not only for her strength and prowess- he also derived a sick pleasure out of defiling a paladin.  Septren was born and raised in a typical Yuan-ti village, which Grim-Grin was the shaman of.  Septren's full-blooded Yuan-ti peers contantly tortured him throughout his childhood and adolescence, which Grim-Grin insisted would toughen him up.  All the villagers, Grim-Grin included, made Septren feel inferior because of his human mother.  Grim-Grin taught him the ways of the shaman, as well as indoctrinating him in the cruel and murdering ways of the Yuan-ti. Septren took naturally to the shaman training, as well as the combat and poison-making lessons he received.  Grim-Grin's beatings were less severe when Septren displayed such aptitude.  He did not do so well with his other studies, however.  The "morals" of the Yuan-ti disgusted Septren, which made him feel even more isolated and depressed than anything else.
Though smart enough to hide the true depths of his feelings, his distaste for murder and destruction was apparent to his father.  Septren was Grim-Grin's only heir, thus slated to be the tribe's next leader.  Thus  Septren was forced to live a double-life: He pretended to accept the tenets of the Yuan-ti life while clinging to the conscience his mother had blessed (or cursed) him with.  For his 18th birthday, his ascendance to adulthood was to be culminated by killing a group of travelers the tribe's scouts had discovered wandering near the village.  Septren made his choice a short time before the sun rose that day.  He found the travelers and, hiding his eyes, told them of the nearby village and the danger they were in.  Afterwards,  taking his few worldly possessions, his pet Erane, (named after his dead mother) and nearly two decades of regret, he left the world of the Yuan-ti.  He rid himself of the surname Guivre, and replaced it with Sceleratus, which means "guilty".  He felt responsible for his race's atrocities, and vowed to spend his life righting wrongs without resorting to gratuitous violence.  He hoped to find allies on the lonely road of righteousness, but he feared his blood would condemn him.  So began his journey, 9 years ago.
