Drevix is a paradoxical god. Death is traditionally associated with evil, or neutrality at best, but Drevix is good. He understands the role death must play, both in the cosmos at large and in the everyday life of mortal. He has compassion for the children and elderly whose time has come, but his eyes simmer red when murderers and rapists darken his doorway He has but one promise for all- one swift, painless chop of his axe to complete the transition to the spiritual realm.
True followers of Drevix are expected to uphold the tenets of Justice and Righteousness. Those who would inflict their will upon the unwilling, whether it be through tyranny, rape, murder, torture, or wanton destruction must be punished. Many non-believers note with concern that this powerful deity does not count Mercy among his tenets.
Opinion of Drevix is divided. Many think he revels in killing. Some think he puts on a show of goodness to gain more followers. Some think he is a psychotic vigilante. Still others believe him to be as holy as Kalu, goddess of life. Even reactions among his worshippers range from exultation to fear. In reality, most rumors concerning him have a grain of truth in them, but his good alignment is not a deception. He works towards the elimination of evil, and he willingly allies himself with the other good gods when their goals coincide.
Drevix rarely interferes in the affairs of mortals, knowing that deities are not to take action lightly without considering the consequences. When he does appear, he is a man in his early thirties, plain-looking with a well-defined musculature and calloused hands. If he takes part in battle or an execution, he dons the traditional executioner's garb, and he wields his greataxe with ferocity. |

Dogma The circle of existence has no beginnings or ends, only transitions. Do good, so that your next transition will be a favorable one. Help those who may die before their time, but also help those whose time has come. Death is the equalizer, allowing the good to rise to the heavens, and the evil to fall into the hells- this is natural and right.
Ceremonies -Priests of Drevix are well-versed in traditional death ceremonies of all the gods, and will perform any of them (regardless of how the two faiths feel about each other) free of charge, at any time. If no specific rites are requested, the priest will use Drevix' ceremony as a default.
-Feuds are placed aside for the funeral; followers of Drevix (especially priests) are forbidden to take any offensive actions against others during these times. However, if attacked, the priests are allowed to retaliate, but are restricted to nonlethal means only.
-The first new moon after the winter solstice is to be observed with a solemn, yet joyful remembrance of friends and family who have passed on. In the rare occurence that the new moon falls on the winter solstice, Drevix is said to reverse a very few tragic deaths, such an infant killed by a carriage.
Leader Justin Mourn is the leader of the church of Drevix. He is a humorless but kind bespectacled man in his mid-fifties, graying hair and beard both neatly trimmed. Justin is a Wizard 3/Cleric 3/True Necromancer 6 that spends much of his time destroying powerful roaming undead, residing over funerals of the well-known, and attending FAITH conferences. His younger brother, Jacob, is a Knight 5/Death's Chosen 3 that is always at Justin's side; he protects Justin from the assassination attempts of the Graven Expirators. (Note: though the usual requirements for a Death's Chosen include the 'master' being undead, Justin's powers as a priest of Drevix override this.) Though physically weaker due to his age, his wisdom remains a shining beacon to those who follow Drevix.
Magic Variants For clerics of Drevix, necromancy and transmutation can work differently than traditional spells.
Drevix is a good-aligned god, and thus his necromancy spells can be powered by positive energy; this makes Evil spells Good. In addition, 'positively-charged' undead are healed by positive energy and harmed by negative energy, just like living beings. Note that normal undead are vulnerable to these positive necromancy effects, and that clerics who take this option will not have access to Inflict spells (as positive Inflict is Heal) A cleric must choose this positive option at their 1st cleric level, which makes all their necromancy spells positive (and thus the cleric cannot cast the negative version).
Drevix' judgement can imbue his followers with additional strength. Transmutation spells that increase any of your physical scores are now affected by opponents that you face. Any time you face opponent that has a diametrically opposed alignment to yours, all applicable spells have their bonus doubled. For identical alignments, applicable spells are immediately ended. All other alignments cause applicable spells to function at 3/4 capacity (round down, minimum of +1). (Law opposes chaos, good opposes evil, neutral opposes neutral) Note that these effects only take place during a round in which the character has targeted a single opponent with a ranged or melee physical attack. Like the necromancy option, this must be chosen at a character's 1st cleric level. |
