For the last 2 months I have been living in town of Annapolis Royal in Nova Scotia. It is a small town in the Annapolis Valley, Whcih attracts tourist around the world. Some interesting sites here are Port Royals Habitation ( first French settlement in Canada?), Fort Anne ( first French fort?) and many local galleries. As you can tell, I am no historian. The town is just off the Bay of Fundy and so has a strong fishing economy.
I have 2 jobs here; one is with the CLean Annaplis River Project, which is a group that works with the community to clean the Annapolis River and monitor its water quality. My job has to do with working with local farmers to get them to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by one tonne ( you might have heared of the Meeting the One Tonne Challenge whcih the government is initiating). I really like my job because I get to work in an ofice (like a grown up) but also I get to go outside to visit farmers and play wiht their animals (not aprt of my job)
My second job is waitressing at Newman's Restuarant. It's a "fine" dining restaurant but not really. So all that work doesn't give me much time to do anyting but I have had time to go the beach and do some shopping (there's always time for shopping!). The beaches here are really incredible, white fien sand, clear blue water (just like the tropics) but wiht 10 degree water temperature. Needs some getting used to!! Nova Scotia is definitelty a place everyone should visit.
So my time here is coming to an end. I will be leaving Nova Scotia August 20th. At the end of the month I will be leaving for my final semester at McGill in Barbados. Courtney has asked me to produce updates once I am there so she can post them on the Family Website for everyone to see. I will do my best to keep everyone updated. Uncle Marc and Carole, Barry and Sue are planning to come visit at some point this fall and should be very exciting!! Looking forward to that!!
Till next time!!
