A Tale of Two Editors
by: Beth Parker

Once upon a time there was a fresh faced, newly scrubbed entrepreneur who joined a networking group called CAWEE. Because in her past life she held the title “Communication Person”, the woman soon was placed in the “communication committee.” There she sat silent, while others who knew each other much better than she, planned the organization’s newsletter.

As time went on, the secret got out that she really could write complete sentences and thus, she became a regular contributor to the quarterly publication. It was back in the olden days of paste-up and print, so the task was arduous, and the process long and complicated.

Although it seemed like many years, it was only about 10 months before she found herself editing the whole darn thing. This was a great challenge for her because although most people said that they want their name in print, most forget to submit material to their association newsletter. So the new editor squirreled away a membership list and began invading the members’ privacy by email in order to acquire information. It was now the new, enlightened age of ONLINE Newsletters, yet the task was still difficult, and the process long and complicated.

The empire grew and that unknown new member soon became established as the ACCLAIM Editor to every woman in the association. By now, her business also had grown and her contacts spread far and wide, with great wealth (well, some wealth) accumulated in her coffers (the bank).

It now became time to pass the torch to yet another writer in the kingdom that had stepped forth to offer her services.

Best wishes, Maja Rehou. Thank you Cawee members.
