Hiya. This is a little piece Nikki wrote while reading an unfinished version of "Tears of Pearls". Go read that. At least through Milliard's speech, then this will make sense. E-mail me with comments. And Nikki, don't kill me for putting this up.
Warnings: Angst, a couple of cuss words, mention of yaoi. Enjoy!

Zoe smiled up at Milliard Peacecraft from her place in the crowd. He had earned that
name now, in her mind. Even though he had ended being the cause, if not the direct
cause, but the cause never the less, of the death of many important people in her
life. She joined in the applause as it started up, more on reflex then anything else,
and then slowly departed with the rest of the crowd.

She knew Oasis hadn't seen her, it was better that way, Oasis had to deal with the
lose of their freinds on her own she as Zoe knew she herself did.

Zoe collasped on her bed, in the small house she owned.Dead, Dead, always dead, she
eventually lost everyone. Zoe suddenly fixed that, Oasis was still alive, and so was
Catherine and Sally and Hilde. Zoe breifly wondered how Hilde was doing. Zoe knew
Hilde loved Duo, you could see it in her eyes, and it had taken more grace the she
would ever own for Hilde to let him go.

Duo had been such a good guy, no wonder he was finally the one to break threw to
Heero. He always had a way to make you laugh even when you were crying inside, even
when he was crying, dying inside he still manged to give people that, a smile.
No wonder Duo ended up with Heero, War and Death, Death and War. The Happy Death and
the eternal Soldier, Heero.

Zoe remembered the one time she had seen Heero smile, it had been at one of Duo's
antics actually. Somehow a tiny smile broken threw that mask. Zoe thanked God and the
Stars she had barely goten it on film. He had been sooooo angry at her! But it had
been worth it!

Zoe pushed herself up and went over to a cabinet and begin rummaging around. Where
was it? She thought, hmm... oh there! Bingo! She pulled out and looked at it.
There was just a tiny touch of her Aden in there. She quickly pushed that memory down,
the last thing she needed was to mourn him too. Maybe she should send the picture to
Oasis, no she couldn't deal with that. Zoe caught sight of another picture, Quatre.

Quatre was so unlike Heero, a pure heart stuck in the middle of war, what the hell
was he doing fighting? He ws a real sweet heart, except when you hurt his family. Zoe
cringed at that memory, it was one her unhappier ones. Quatre going crazy ranked
right up there with losing her parents as her stop nasty things to think about. But
still he had done it in the name of his family, his father and his closet sister,
losing them was too much and he lost it. Poor, kind, good, lost little soul. It would
have been nice to be in his family. No, Zoe thought, of all people, Trowa would of
been the one he chose.

Trowa, almost as stoic as Heero, but not quite, thankfully. Some how Zoe knew the
team could not handle two Heeros. Trowa was a strategist, brilliant, and at times,
kind. He had protected her from quite a bit. She now realised, if it wasn't for him,
there would have been many times when she somehow doubted she could have made it
through herself if it had not been for his support and the support of so many others.
Even Wufei protected her once or twice.

Wufei. Stupid, brilliant, honorable fool. The dragon suited him well. Zoe breifly
wondered if he was with Nataku now, finding out about Meiren had been a little of a
shock, to know once Wufei was so different, a scholar, a husband, a freind. Zoe
suddenly realised there had been a few times where that must have been showed through
for only a few brief seconds. Well at least he kept his promises.

And the last to die. Relena and Dorothy. Lady Peace and her Shadow Fury. What a funny
way to think of them, Zoe almost laughed threw the tears. Relena was a eternal
believer in peace and Dorothy was always there to remind her that sometimes things
didn't work out the way you wanted, sometimes peace could not be achieved because
that's how people were, naturally violent. Dorothy had become Relena's shadow, the
part that every person has that will do the things and think the things they never
dream of. Funny that these people in a way had become her family, even Relena and
Dorothy.

Zoe knew that some of the others still lived, but these few had died, had been
lost to time. She ought to do something for them, a memorial, so the world wouldn't
forget. Suddenly a stack of CDs caught her attention:
"Perfect!"
