One fine, sunny day, which was very rare, as you don't get them very often in London, Victoria and Etcetera were sat playing chess on Old Deuteronomy's tyre in the junkyard. Victoria was extremely bored today - Mr Mistoffelees has gone on holiday, and it had almost been a whole hour since he left. "Vicky?" whined Etcetera Victoria looked scathingly at her younger sister. "What?" she sighed. "Where's the snake gone?" "What snake?" Victoria sneered. "Well, there are snakes in Snakes and Ladders" Etcetera continued. Victoria rolled her eyes. "We're not playing Snakes and Ladders" she said sarcastically, "We're playing Chess" "Well why's this ladder here then?" Etcetera protested. Victoria sighed impatiently. "That's the knight" she said. "Funny looking knight," Etcetera muttered, glancing at the board. "I've found the snake, Vicky!" she exclaimed loudly. "What?" Victoria said glaring at the kitten. "No. Look" Etcetera said, pointing at the board. "Oh yeah," Victoria said, watching a long, pink wiggly-thing on the board. "Vicky?" "What now?" "It's coming from over there," she said, pointing at the cooker. "What is?" "The snake" "And...?" "Well let's follow it" Etcetera yelled excitedly. She started to run towards the cooker. "Etcetera, where you going? Etcetera?" Etcetera had disappeared into the depths of the cooker. Victoria followed reluctantly. She climbed into the darkness of the cooker, muttering "Stupid kitten" as she went. A few metres into the darkness, a red glow appeared. She saw a small body on the floor. "Etcetera?" she screamed "Who's done this to you" Slowly she raised her head to the direction of the glow. To her horror, she saw OLD DEUTERONOMY TIED TO A SPIT ROTATING SLOWLY IN FRONT OF A FIRE! An anteater was sat watching him rotate, licking his lips and muttering "Mmm..Kitty chunks for my tea!" Victoria stood there transfixed at the sight before her. After getting over the initial shock, Victoria muttered "Mistoffelees where are you when we need you?", before fainting in shock. BANG! A bright white, light filled the oven, and Mr Mistoffelees appeared wearing a huge sombrero and dark glasses, and carrying a large, brown suitcase, imprinted with the words: 'My suitcase. Paws off!' "What the...?" he said to himself confusedly, "Where am I?" He glanced round the room, and spotted the sight at which Victoria and Etcetera had fainted. "PRESTO!" He yelled. As if an invisible hand came down from the sky, the anteater was dragged across the floor of the oven, and out of the door. Mistoffelees watched gleefully as a rope came down from the sky and secured itself around the anteater's hind leg. He rushed over to Old Deuteronomy and began to untie him. "What happened Old D?" said Mistoffelees said curiously. "Well," Old Deuteronomy began, "I was just watching the kittens, when I heard an evil laugh. I told the kittens to hide and went out to discover what it was. Just as I'd suspected, it was Macavity. He ordered his rats to grab me, and they brought me in here. Then that anteater came in and started to fry me!" "Thanks Mistoffelees," said Old Deuteronomy, "You saved my life. What do you want as a reward? You can have anything you like." "What, anything?" said Mistoffelees. "Yes. Well...within reason," replied Old Deuteronomy. A huge grin spread across Mistoffelees face.
