| PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
My Dear Queens Villagers,
At last, spring is beginning to show its vivid, beautiful colors and warmer
temperatures, and our memories of a bitterly cold winter of ice and snow,
which forced us to cancel our January and March meetings, will soon fade.
Last month’s scheduled speaker, Deputy Inspector Thomas Manzolillo, the
new Commander
of the 105th Precinct,
will address us at this month’s meeting. He will brief us about crime problems
in our community and answer questions from the audience.
Nominations for our slate of officers for our 2004-2005 civic year will
be presented at the meeting. Members who are interested in serving in these
positions have to let us know at the meeting. We are always in need of
people who want to serve their community actively as a member of our civic
association.
Tickets for our 47th Annual Dinner and Installation of Officers Ceremony
on Tuesday, June 15,
are now available.
The cost is $10.00 per person for the buffet dinner. This is an opportunity
for you to support our civic association and at the same time enjoy an
evening of good food and good company.
The second hearing at the office of the Bureau of Standards and Appeals
(BSA) concerning a
developer’s proposed
project at 212th Street and 94th Avenue in Queens Village went well as
we presented additional information to support our opposition. The developer
is seeking a zoning variance from BSA to build 13 two-family semi-attached
homes on land that is zoned for nine single-family detached homes. The
next hearing is scheduled for May 18. We will keep you posted on this matter.
(Please refer to related article in the news page.)
Keep well and be good to each other. I hope to see you on April 20.
Respectfully,
(signed)
