Back to Top Fruit Drinks 1/2 sandwich bag frozen bananas 1-2 cups any other fruit you have handy, frozen or not 1 small tub yogurt milk if needed ice Put about 1 1/2 cups ice into a blender. Blend until pieces are about 1/3 inch across at biggest. Add yogurt and blend a bit more. Add bananas and other fruit slowly, a couple pieces at a time, and belnd inbetween adding them. Add more ice, or add milk if needed to adjust consistency. Back to top Fruit Shakes 1/2 banana, sliced and frozen overnight 3 tbsp of any yogurt (vanilla works well) 1 cup orange juice frozen or fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, or any fruit you like. Place all ingredients in belnder and blend until smooth. Back to top Italian Cream Soda Sprite, or other lemon lime soda, or any clear carbonated soda. MUST be clear, not Mountain Dew Flavored syrup concentrate, like for snow cones (any flovor{s} you like) ice Add approx. 3 parts soda for each part syrup, or to taste. Stir well. Pour in a glass if you didn't start in one, and add ice. Back to top Lemonade About 2/3 of a grocery bag of lemons approx. 1 1/2 cups sugar almost half a pitcher of water Juice lemons. Mix with water, approx 2 parts juice, 1 part water. Add sugar to taste. Back to top Oreo Shake handful of Oreos per person about half a glass of either vanilla or chocolate or vanilla/chocolate like ice cream half a glass of milk per person Put all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth. Optional: save out oreos and break them up, then stir them in after milk and ice cream are smooth. Adjust ammounts for thicker or thinner shake. Varriations: Cookies and Cream ice cream, vanilla yogurt instead of ice cream, add marichino cherries Back to top Red Punch 2 (46oz.) cans pineapple grapefruit juice (3 cups reserved for ice ring) 1/3 cup red cinnamon candies 1/3 cup sugar 1 qt. ginger ale, chilled Heat 1 cup pineapple grapefruit juice with cinnamon candies and sugar. Stir until dissolved. Combine heated mixture with remaining pineapple grapefruit juice, chill. Add the ginger ale just before serving. Note:Pour some pineapple grapefruit juice into Jello ring and freeze for ice ring. Back to top Rootbeer Floats 1 can Barqs or A&W rootbeer per person 1 large scoop FRENCH VANILLA ice cream per person. Ben and Jerry's is best, or Dreyers 1 marischino cherry per person Put ice cream into cups. Pour rootbeer over, and leave set for a few minutes. Garnish each with a cherry. Back to top Spice Bags for Warm Winter Drinks 8 sticks cinnamon, broken into small pieces 2 whole nutmegs, crushed 1/3 cup whole cloves 1/3 cup minced dried orange peel (or 1/4 cup ground) 1/4 cup whole allspice berries optional: garnish with cinnamon sticks, slice of orange, lemon peel Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, tie in sachets of 1 tablespoon each in a double thickness of cheesecloth; transfer to an airtight container. One sachet of the mixture will flavor 1 quart of cider, tea or wine. To use, simmer 1 quart of the chosen beverage with 1 sachet for 20 minutes; ladle into mugs. If desired, add a garnish or a sprinkling of additional spirits. Back to top Sun Tea Pitcher of water tea bags, approx 6, or three family sized bags Place tea bags in water, cover pitcher loosely. Put in the sun for 1-3 hours. Check on it ever hour or so, and remove from sun when its the right color. Refridgerate. Add lemon and/or sugar if desired. Back to top Vanilla Milk milk 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, or to taste sugar and/or sprinkles to taste Pour a glass of milk. Stir in enough vanilla that the smell is lightly detectable, or to taste. Stir in sugar and/or sprinkles to taste. Add ice, it's better. Back to top Wassail 1 can of frozen cranberry juice 1 can of frozen apple juice 1 cup of orange juice, grapefruit juice, or lemon juice or a combination of all three 1 cup of sugar 2 cinnamon sticks 12 whole cloves cheese cloth Make the frozen juices according to package directions and add to a large pot. Add the citrus juice and sugar. Place the cinnamon sticks and cloves in a cheese cloth a wrap them loosely. I use plastic twist ties to secure the cheese cloth. Place the cheese cloth into the pot and bring the liquid just to a boil then reduce heat to very low and let simmer for at least 2 hours....the longer it simmers the more the flavors blend. I usually double or even triple this recipe and store leftovers in plastic jugs in the fridge.
