Albion Rovers 2 Queen's Park 1
Main Page
David McCallum made way for Steven Canning with 8 minutes remaining, and the young midfielder was able to force his way into the play in this time; a cross was headed wide by Gemmell, and a one final muster in stoppage time was created by his run; however, the cross eluded Willie Martin and John Gemmell, and no Queen's player was able to get a shot in; somehow, it seemed typical. In between times, Stirling bent a free kick wide as Rovers seeked to keep possession, however unconvincingly, and Queen's failed to get the ball out of their own half. The referee ilicited more dissatisfaction through his failure to add on any more than 2-3 minutes of injury time, and the mood leaving the ground was one of deep regret and anguish that Queen's had failed to achieve the unforgettable feat of three wins at Cliftonhill in the one season. The Rovers promotion train rumbles on; Queen's must continue to look to securing seventh place in the three matches that remain.
