-ng record.
Ferry again attempted to deliver a telling cross just after, and his ball found the goalscorer, who turned well but there was no real force in the effort. The momentum was subsequently lost by the home side.
A win for Peterhead was more or less certain as the game entered stoppage time, but the ending of the match left a bad taste in the mouth for all of the home support. Johnny Whelan had battled well since coming on, but his collision with a Peterhead player in the midfield near the close of the game was hardly in the Iraqi mould. That epitome of idiocy, E. Mack, thought he saw something dreadfully untoward in Johnny's actions though, and unbelievably pulled a red card from his pocket. Whelan delayed to protest the decision, and Chris Fisher would pick up a booking for his annoyance, while the Peterhead players tried to defend Whelan to the referee without success.
It's hard to take, this appalling standard of officiating, week in, week out. Queen's have now had three men sent-off in the last 4 home games, all of them unfairly, and it would be no surprise to see more in the coming weeks: the players'  frustration may understandably come to the boil in future with any further poor decisions, and this is something KB will have to warn them to guard against. For there is really little you can do when a buffoon is in charge of your games.
The lack of stoppage time also angered some, though in truth it was probably irrelevant. The game was lost for Queen's, and their comeback, hard-fought though it was, could not be completed because of a lack of a real goal threat. As for Peterhead, they possess enough quality to push on and claim promotion, if not the championship. Queen's could halt any progress next week though, as the teams come together again. Some other team will be playing at Hampden that day as far as I know.
