| Any hopes of an enjoyable end to the season for Queen's were ended in an unbelievably dull match at a sun-kissed, drowsy Hampden where neither team looked as if they wanted to be playing football, or even knew how to. The supporters, to risk repeating myself and everyone else, deserve better than this: deserve a team that are prepared to go out and at the very least compete and fight while wearing the jersey. But on Saturday only a handful of players could honestly claim to have done that as much as they could have done: Steven Canning, Frankie Carroll and Jonny Whelan among them, three players who could yet form the spine of a challenging, talented team. Part of the blame must be laid squarely at Kenny Brannigan's door, for motivation of the players is his domain, and they couldn't have looked less up for the game, one, remember, that would effectively decide whether or not we improved upon last season's league position, and that gave us our last chance of beating our rivals Albion Rovers this season. Frankly it was a performance typical of far too many under the current manager and time is surely running out for him, at least as far as the supporters' patience is concerned. Not even the greatest of sleuths could detect any improvement over the course of his 16 month spell in charge. Derek Carcary has emerged, Inverness happened, so the time has not been completely worthless, but it's this sort of game that makes you think it has.
