| Committed is a word that is used loosely these days, but I don't know anyone more committed than Dave Stafford. Dave travels in the region of 400 miles every fortnight - or more - to see Queen's Park in action. Despite his sight disability, Dave follows the Spiders avidly and has even bought a season ticket this year. He even came up north to see the Hoops in action in pre-season matches. He comes with his dog Iris to most matches and she is there to guide him around the stadium. Dave travels so frequently that he is known around the airport and Iris is equally as popular. They are quite the double act and recently they had their photos taken at the British Airways airport in Southampton. Dave is pictured here with Iris who is also wearing the black and white with pride. As mentioned, Dave is known very well at the airport and Iris is also made very welcome. He had a photo shoot at the airport and here he is with one of the assistants. Dave proudly shows off his card. Iris looks equally happy. Dave has been following Scottish football for quite some time. He attended Brechin matches for a while, but he has found his true home from home at Hampden. Whenever he comes up, he books a hotel near the ground. Unfairly, Iris is sometimes unable to accompany Dave at some hotels, but Dave always finds one which accommodates his best friend. Dave has taken part in events at the club and has several items of merchandise from the club shop. He has recently bought the latest shirt and gone to the trouble of adding a brilliant emblem on the back. It says "Southern Spider" with a big Spider's web alongside it. He has bought scarves and jackets and is really proud to show off the colours. Dave is also currently sponsoring a player. Promising youngster Steven Canning has the privilege to be sponsored by Dave and all costs provided will help him with travel and more. Dave even had his own article in the Sunday Post. It covers his fondness for the club and his frequent travel. Whatever anyone says, Dave is a true fan and a great friend to people who know him. His support is deservedly recognised and hopefully he and many other dedicated fans can see Queen's Park rise to success in the future. Words - Martin Kelly.
