| Welcome to a special 'Basil' edition of Allez Les Hoops fresh in from Gretna |
| Well, if Gretna are going to be the Champions this season then they will face an uphill struggle to pull it off if yesterday's display is anything to go by. Gretna were poor and, while they did create one or two chances, it has to be said that Queen's were the better side, even if not by much. That didn't stop us going a goal down with seven minutes to go, nor did it stop us being pleased with 'just' a point when Frankie Carroll somehow found himself one-on-one with the keeper in the dying seconds and kept his head to equalise. Had it finished 0-0 we would have been disappointed not to have won - based on the performances, I think we would have deserved a win. Derek Scrimgour: Didn't have a lot to do for most of the game, but he did what he had to do when he had to do it. Early on he was caught out on a bouncing cross and with a pass-back, but he made up for this well later on, especially with a great one-on-one save. Basil says '7'. Allan Dunning: Was caught in posession before the Gretna goal, but worked very hard throughout the game both defensively and in attack - overall a good performance. Basil says '7'. Ross Clark: Not so effective when playing on the left wing, but once he moved inside when Ferry came on he looked much more at home. Basil says '6'. Richard Sinclair: Only played the first 45 minutes and was unfortunate to get his yellow card. Did his job despite a couple of bad decisions against him by the referee. Basil says '6'. Stevie Moffat: Came on at half time for Sinclair and put in his usual skilled performance. Great to see him back! Basil says '8'. Damiano Agostini: Another outstanding performance - what more can I say? Oh yes - his booking was ridiculous. Basil says '8'. Ross Conlin: A bit shaky at the start especially when put under pressure by the pacey Gretna forwards. Grew in confidence though and put in a good second half performance. Basil says '6'. Steve Reilly: Gave 100% and was involved in several good build-ups including the one which led to the equaliser. Basil says '7'. Paul 'Trialist' Harvey: Only played 35 minutes but in that time showed some good playmaking skills. He is obviously not yet fully fit but looks as though he would be a very good signing. Basil says '7'. Danny Ferry: Came on as a replacement for our Trialist. One heart-in-the-mouth slice in the QP box and nearly a goal from a clever 30 yard chip - a typical performance from Danny, and, as always, 100% effort. Basil says '7'. Ally G: Very influential up front. Showed some good creativity as well as being very unlucky not to score himself with a flicked header from a second half corner. Basil says '7'. Jonny Whelan: Not one of his best games - perhaps not yet fully fit after his lay off last week. A better second half though. Basil says '6'. Davie Menelaws: Worked hard for 70 minutes and was desperately unlucky not to score at the end of the first half. Basil says '7'. Frankie Carroll: He's back and he's scoring goals again! Came on for the last 20 minutes. As well as keeping cool for the equaliser he worked tirelessly and also did his bit of defending. Basil says '8'. Man of the match: Damiano Agostini |
