CHAPTER 4

I watched in horror as that GUY just took Nova and jump off the balcony. I glanced at Scully beside me as we traded looks of uncertainty.

Heh. And here I thought we were going on a nice peaceful vacation to Hong Kong. I wanted peace and quiet for once! My life is very structural and ordinary! THESE THINGS DO NOT HAPPEN TO ORDINARY PEOPLE!!!

Behind us somewhere the door crashed down.

And I did something completely out of character for me. I swore.

Of course, it was nothing against the voluminous swearing occurring on Scully's part, but still, it was big for me!!!

We both grabbed the nearest weapon handy.

Me with my very full proof mini vacuum cleaner that can suck the air out of anything, and Scully hauling her metal death brush of death. We scrambled on either side of the bedroom doorway. We were prepared for anything.

Two men charged in, guns a plenty, eyes widening to find us, before the metal brush of death knocked him unconscious and the other managed on shot before I hit him with all my strength with the vacuum. The vacuum fell to the floor in parts.

Scully looked at me in surprise. "Whoa, Dana, way to go!"

I just looked wide-eyed at her.

Our eyes met. And we both took a great hyperventilated breath, both of us shaking pretty badly. It only due to the strength, of the door way that we were still standing.

Fortunately no more scary guys with guns came through the door. No other people came either.

WHERE WERE THE FRICKING POLICE!?! OR EVEN THE HOTEL MANAGER!?! SOMEBODY BETTER SPEAK FOR THIS!!!

Scully sunk to the floor, breathing nice, calming breaths. Softly repeating, "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god..."

I couldn't exactly bring the strength to correct her into saying 'gosh' as I slumped to the ground beside her.

This was not good.

That happened to be the understatement of the year.

"What should we do now?"

I looked at Scully. I looked at the suite. For once I ignored the need to clean, that's what hotel people were for, but I still winced at the mess.

"I don't know." I said. "I do know we can't stay HERE any longer."

In spite of a lost friend, nearly being killed and attacking baddies with guns, Scully laughed.

"Shouldn't there be someone coming for us?"

It was a while later before someone came. And a WHOLE lot longer before I was through with them.

To put it lightly, I gave them a piece of my mind. And of course, they complied when they saw the...er...logic of my argument. Scully and Nova have this weird idea that I won't give up when I know I'm right. That's foolish, then I'll never give up. I'm usually right that's all. And if those hotel people are too stupid to see that...!!!

Anyway, it was about midnight when we finally gave way to exhaustion after Police reports and reporters, settling into our new 5 star president's suite.

But I came to realise that the police had no interest at all on this. Back in Australia the investigators will be full blown interrogating us. But they just asked us a total of ten questions and that was it! I had to TELL them what Nova looked like before they left!!! By this time, Scully was practically falling off the lounge in slumber. The police, to their credit, at least told me that this could do with the triads.

That of course sent me into a world of panic.

The triads were the black market criminals known world wide! To put it bluntly, they were the Chinese version of the Mafia, and a ton more powerful. I've heard they even control the police! Explains a lot.

I couldn't stop worrying about Nova. She wasn't the best independent person around. Her apartment in Sydney was a total destruction zone, and she only cleaned on impulse, not to mention a diet of instant and take away. Her skills at work were pretty bad, sue to the lack of attention span, but still somehow rivaled mine by doing the most complicated jobs in the shortest amount of time, then slacking off for the rest of the week. I seriously hoped she wasn't hurt.

That creep that took her looked dangerous. I only caught a glimpse before he carried her away and beyond down the balcony, her voice screaming like no tomorrow. What I did see was pretty good eye candy, but not exactly comforting. What if he was some kind of rapist or something!?

I took another bout of calming breaths.

Nova could cope when it was necessary. She will be okay. But we HAD to find her. Among us were different skills. Nova was the computer expert, looking into stuff I'm sure she wasn't allowed to see, especially while she was at work. I've reprimanded her several times for it too.

Scully had WAY too many family members. They pop up like flowers absolutely everywhere. If we wanted anything at all, we can get it off Scilly's contacts. Due to this, she was the trade expert at the office, organising routes to other countries, companies and stores, not to mention boost her families economy.

And I, I was the money expert. Yes. I was good with money. My family tend to save very well. The complete opposite of Nova's 'get money, spend money theory'. Me, I've been saving since the age of three, and haven't touched the account except for my weekly deposits since. Now, at the age of 21, I have over $600,000 in the bank. Mostly also due to my equally money saving family, and special holidays. This led to me being able to upgrade any amount of currency into at least 20 times it's worth in a VERY short amount of time.

Quite handy.

But money skills and trading ain't going to do us much good in Hong Kong, where there wasn't much chance of any of Scully's relatives magically appearing or me being able to do anything other than high speed shopping. We barely knew the city. Hell, we didn't know the city AT ALL.

We needed help. And there was only a few people that could help us. the only few individuals with the skill to rescue Nova, and find out what the hell was going on!!!

But first, I needed sleep most of all.

I yawned tiredly and joined Scully in dreamland.
