CHAPTER 3

"...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"
The wind whipped around me howling with terrifying force as nothing but air held me , dropping horrifyingly, over four storeys down!!!!!
Then suddenly, we landed with not a sound, but my bones rattled in numb fear, my lungs gasping through my already damaged throat for air.
*God help me.*
HE didn't let me go however, tugging at the string wire thing that held us through four storeys, and letting it wind back somewhere in his jacket.
"I would shut up if I were you. They'll be coming after us very soon."
He walked fast as if carrying a shaking female over a shoulder and crossing a street was the most common thing in the world!
"My friends..." I tried again, caught somewhere between worry, fear, confusion and disbelief. Fear was a majority though.
He snorted. "Don't know, don't care." He jolted me on his shoulder.
We went along some kind of alleyway filled with absolute blackness, the stench was nauseating!
He apparently had no problem seeing as he lead us directly ahead, turn after blinding turn toward an unknown destination. I seethed.
"Where are we going!?!" My voice was still raspy basically from being choked.
"Get on." He said calmly, but his voice held no space for questions.
Then, I saw it. The glint of sleek black in that little ray of moonlight.
"Get on what!?!" Doesn't mean I knew what I was.
He made an annoyed sound, lifting me like I weighed a feather and put me solidly , a leg on each side, on a seat.
And to my horror, he got on behind me. He strapped, what was unmistakably a motorcycle helmet on my head, then probably leaned back to click on his own.
"Stay down and leave this to me. They will shoot." The whole bike shuddered as he moved, revving the engine into a roar. I felt his muscled arms reach around me to the bike handles, trapping me there.
*Great. Just great. I'm going who knows where, with a dangerous hunk and his gun pals. And........ what about Dana and Scully?.......*
My thoughts went nil as we started to move. And how fast did we move!!
I set my mouth into a line as the road roared at light speed inches from my feet, the wind pushing me against his warm body.
Not very comforting I can tell you.
"Stay down." He growled, reaching inside his jacket.
And then, I saw them.
Three black cars speeding after us, the first one a convertible. And with a man in a suit pointing a gun at us.
I dodged and fast.
The booms made the bullets whizzed past my ear, freaking me as my brain detached itself from my head.
Oddly enough, I did see him take out something out of that big black, leather jacket of his.
A semi-automatic.
Hey, I watch movies, what can I say?
But what scared me more was how, with a casual flick of his shoulders the gun loaded. He didn't even look back as he pointed the barrel at the cars!
A whole stream of bullets scorched the street, sparking against the cement, and punched holes in the cars behind us, blowing the fuel boxes and the two cars into raging fire balls.
I sooooooooo wanted to scream at that moment. Nothing came out.
The two black cars erupted into flames, twisting along the street.
The last one however was nowhere in sight.
Not. Good.
"Hold on." He said.
Hold on!?! HOLD ON!?! To what!?! He  only had one hand on the steering himself! The rest was.......bike.
I clung like a leech to the leather as if my life depended on it. Hold a sec....it does!!!
I felt him twist, both hands on the steering once more. Safe?
Not.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" GASP! "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"
The street held inches from my face as this LUNATIC skidded us........RIGHT UNDER A SEMI-TRAILER!!!
'Long breaths, long breaths', I repeated mentally, as we uprighted back and vertical. Still speeding along.
Okay I lied. It was more like ,'I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die' on and on in my head, combined with brain freezing fear......well, it didn't help.
"You ok?" He asked gruffly.
Ok!?! OK!?! "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?!" I screamed with my usual grace.
He looked genuinely surprised. Then scowled. "Look lady, I  don't care what you think or how exactly that didn't meet your duchess needs. You should be thanking me for saving your worthless life."
"Duchess...............worthless.....!!" I narrowed my eyes. "I don't know WHO you think I  am but..........."
"I know you aren't who I think you are. I was sent after Grace Chan. Daughter of one of Hong Kong's top underground bosses. I don't know who you are but I was sent after the girl who had the jewels, and you got them."
"What do you mean sent after?" I glared over my shoulder.
His face remained blank. Nope. Nothing out of this guy. The guy that's supposed to 'protect' me and kidnap me to be given as a gift to some weird sicko........
"Who the fuck are you!?!" I screamed, my mind as you can tell, filled with horrible scenarios of possible futures.
"No can do."
"How bout a first name then? Or I can just call you...'hey you'." I said sarcastically.
He looked down at me, face still unreadable. "No."
I flipped him the bird. "Can you at least tell me WHERE we're going!?!"
"No."
Argh!!! "Why am I so important then!?! Who wants me? And what the f*** is all this business about mob bosses!?" I wanted answers. Now.
"You have the diamonds." He said flatly.
I gave him repeated death looks over my shoulder. Looks hidden by the visor on the helmet. Damn.
"What's so damn good bout these diamonds anyway!?! Aren't mob bosses supposed to be rich!?"
He subtly shrugged. "I don't ask questions."
"I bet. What are you? A lanky? Henchmen?"
He laughed. Right in my face. "Those fools? The guy that came after you, that was a lanky, the black guys, they're henchmen. I'm not stupid enough to work for some half crazy manic in hope they'll pay sooner or later."
"Then what are you?" I asked, starting to get annoyed.
He hesitated and we drove for a while.
"I am a mercenary, bounty hunter, whatever."
I made a face. "Mercenary?"
He didn't say anything.
"You're kidding me."
Again, silence.
"What!?!"
"You asked lady." He said casually.
I fumed. Arrogant jackass.
The night was cold. Smart me wearing nothing but a black singlet and pants. Yay.
Was it just me or was it getting REALLY dark.
"Okay, smart ass, WHERE are we going?! I swear, if you even try..."
His expression was hid by his helmet, but even I could see that damnable annoying male smirk they invented to annoy us.
"Relax duchess, I wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole."
"THEN WHAT DO YOU CALL THIS!?!"
Suddenly he skidded to a nauseating halt. "We're here."
I gulped, only now noticing we were at the Hong Kong docks...a foot from the edge.
"Get off." He commanded.
I resisted the urge to slam the helmet into his head.
Plus, I was kinda frozen to the seat. If anyone tried to get me off, the bike will have to come too.
Behind me, I heard the click of the helmet coming off and a soft growl.
"Fine." With cat-like grace he climbed off, slammed that helmet on one of the handle bars and slid his hands around my waist.
"ACK!!! Let me go this instant!!!" I hollered, sound echoing everywhere.
"Shut up woman. This is Hong Kong. People get killed in the streets and nobody cares. Now, let go of my bike dammit."
I clenched my legs around the seat like death.
He glared at me menacingly. "I can be a whole lot nastier to you if you want."
I glared back. Helmet. Damn. Really starting to hate that damn shield of plastic.

He pulled me over his shoulders like a great sack of potatoes again and walked us to the great unknown...

WHAT'S TO BECOME OF ME!?!
