My Best Friend's Wedding

A/N: Inspired by said movie in a sort of parody...good readings. This may be the ONLY fic with my most hated pairing. Yep. T/M. Little bit o' fluff for everyone. Now remember to review or I might wither away from being unloved and die...

MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING.

Part 1

Pan smiled, leaning on the handrest of the seat. Another year.

The familiar city scape of West City slowly unravelled below the plane, one particular building looming above all. Capsule Corporation. Home of her best friends and adopted parents of sorts, and of course, the might Saiya-jin Prince, Vegeta.

A loud ringing disturbed her from her musing. After a valiant scramble through her bags, and dirty looks from other passengers, she located the object of the ringing.

Her cell phone.

"Hello?"

"Panny Girl! How are ya!?"

Pan blinked at the phone. "Trunks?"

"Now who else would risk your life by calling a plane and possibly cause fatal turbulence?" The all too familiar voice questioned teasingly.

"Trunks! Are you crazy!? You might damage those air plane thingos and cause all these people to die!!! AND I HAVE TO SAVE THEM!!!" She screamed into the phone, no doubt causing weird and panicked looks sent her way.

The voice at the other end laughed. "Okay. I get the idea. Just called to make sure you really ARE coming back Pan. It's been a year. Now how do you think I can manage without my closest buddy by my side?"

Even against her will, Pan smiled. "Well, you can always go with your BEST friend, my uncle."

"Nah. He's not halfway as interesting as you. Listen, I've got great news!" He paused.

She waited for him to continue.

And waited.

"Well? What is it!?"

The teasing tone came back. "...And I'll tell you once you land and we can all give you gigantic bone crushing hugs, courtesy of Saiya-jin strength."

Pan groaned, sinking in her seat.

"What? It's just an insurance based on your infinite curiousity to make SURE you get to the airport to recieve said hugs and find out said news."

Pan made a face, fighting the smile. "Why you little..."

"Uh uh uh...I'll see you later Panny girl." With that cheery tone, he clicked off.

Pan remained smiling as she shut off the tone, promply ignoring curious looks around her.

Maybe...maybe this year she would tell him. Her most kept secret. After all these years. Maybe it was this year she would tell him.

Tell him that she was in love with the lavender goof.

After all. She was twenty-one. And ALL woman contray to tomboy belief.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Trunks sighed, looking around frantically anxious to see his Panny Girl.

The group around him was equally excited. Hell, most of them, particularly two overly protective parents were practically dancing on their toes.

But there was no way any of them were getting to his Panny Girl before him. Plus, he had wonderful news for her.

Suddenly screams resounded from the terminal exit.

"LET GO OF ME!!! THERE'S NOTHING IN MY LUGGAGE!!!"

The group heaved a collective sigh.

"PLEASE!!! MISS!!! WE NEED TO INSPECT YOUR BAGS!!! THERE IS NO WAY I CAN LET YOU..."

The crowds eagerly parted to reveal a young woman stomping her way towards them, single suit case in hand, and about twelve customs guys holding her back. That only managed to to drag them along in the woman's path.

Bulma lifted a hand to cover her barely held back laughing.

The young woman looked up, face lighting up to see them.

It was undisputed she looked even more beautiful than the last time he saw her. A whole year ago. But this time, she was coming back to stay.

Trunks held out his arms laughing as she promptly shrugged free of customs and suit case, nearly plowing him over with a satisfactory glomp.

"TRUNKS!!! GUYS!!! YOU ALL CAME!!!"

Struggling to breathe, Trunks managed to laugh again. "Welcome back Pan."

And before any of them knew it, they were on the recieving ends of bone crushing hugs from the demi saiya-jin.

Even Vegeta, who was looking less then happy about it.

And laughing in a group, they made their way towards the familiar dome of Capsule Corporation in the distance.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"Alright, out with it Underwear Boy, what's this great news you're telling me?" Pan demanded, hands on hips in front of him.

Trunks laughed, leaning back on the seat. "Should I tell you? Maybe I should just leave you in torture by not telling you."

She pouted, displaying those big goo goo eyes he could never resist, even with her as an adult. Some things never change. Somethings like their friendship.

He just laughed again. "Okay. Sit down." He patted the cushion beside him. Obediently she did. Unknown to their eyes, everyone currently in the room were paying attention to this particular conversation.

"Pan..." Trunks took her hand, smiling.

Hope spread in her body. "Yes?" She said softly.

"You know how I've been, bachelor for Kami knows how long, womaniser extreme, and of course Mr non-commitment right?"

"As if anyone could miss it." She quipped.

He smiled. "Well...I've got great news." He paused, still grinning.

Pan nudged him, incredibly aware of his hand still holding hers.

"Pan...I'm getting married." He said happily.

Everything came skidding to a halt. A roaring screech that resounded in her heart.

"What?" She whispered.

Trunks, oblivious, continued. "Yep. Can't believe it myself. I'm getting married. To Marron no less."

Pan took a halting breath. "Marron?" She whispered again, face clouded.

"He wanted to wait and surprise you." A new voice said.

Pan looked up to see her old friend, Marron, who had an arm around Trunk's shoulders. Quickly she plastered a smile on her lips. "That's great."

Her heart thudded dully in her chest. But it was too late.

"That's great guys, I'm so happy for you." She said.

Marron and Trunks grinned, before hugging her.

"Pan, will you do me the honor of being my maid of honor?" Marron smiled at her hopefully. "I know it's kinda short notice since the wedding's in two weeks, but will you? I would be forever grateful!"

Pan could only manage a nod before Marron squealed and hugged her again. Trunks smiled at her in the way only he did.

But through it all, her heart thudded dully. This wasn't how it was meant to be.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The machine encapsulated with a loud 'boom'. The lone passenger looked around, determination etched on his face.

Without a word he blasted off into the air, long lavender hair tied with a crude string whipping behind him as he flew toward the all to familiar dome of Capsule Corp.

His mission, to change time.

And maybe make a life himself in this one.

The sound of soft weeping drew his attention.

Landing quietly on the roof and pushing his ki down, he saw a beautiful young woman silently crying, her hands bending the metal beneath her hands.

What could have caused such silent, heart renching weeping?

Just from the looks of her, he could tell that this woman would never cry normally. Some thing horrible must've happened to her.

"Why Trunks? Why?" She whispered softly.

He nearly jumped at the name. But curiousity got the better of him.

"After all these years, not once did you notice me as anything more than a friend. While here I was, always in love with you, but playing coward because I was afraid. Now I'm too late. Ironic isn't it? I lost you to Marron. One of my best friends. The only one that had enough courage to ask you out. To fight for you. While I stood in the back ground, always only an arms reach away, but a million miles apart. Why Trunks? Why can't you see I love you?" She spoke softly into the wind, head lowered as tears dropped onto the ground far below.

The onlooker's face softened. So this beauty loved the Trunks in this time. But the guy was oblivious to it. A fool if anyone asked him.

The soft weeping began again.

"Pan! Dinner's ready!!!"

His mother's voice called from inside.

The young woman hastily wiped the tears from her eyes, visably straightening before she stepped from the balcony, closing the door quietly behind her.

So her name is Pan.

His heart went out to the girl. And obviously, she needed help. And she was going to get it. The once boy from the future let out a rare smile before flying off, keeping his ki suppressed.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"Oh my...Pan...you look gorgeous!!!" Bura clapped her hands, eyes flashing in pleasure at seeing her friend all dressed up. In a DRESS no less! A FORMAL dress!

Pan plastered a smile on her face, something she'd been doing alot lately, andd looked down at the lovely lavender gown, another reminder of a certain guy. She sighed.

"Why do I have to have a different dress to the other Bride's maids?"

"Because Pan-chan..." Marron said from behind a load of Bridal gowns, "You're special. Plus, Trunks insists."

Bura nodded on the opposite stand, she wearing a red gown, most likely designer, that clung to God-like curves that were famous world wide. She being the head Bride's maid getting choice and design of Bride's maids dresses.

"Yep. I'm surprised you didn't go into a screaming fit while getting into that thing." She teased.

Pan placed gloved hands on hips, making the dress show that tinsy little bit more of cleavage. "Hey, just because I'm a tomboy, doesn't mean I can suddenly change gender because of a few spars B-chan."

"Okay, okay. Point taken."

Marron smiled. "I'm so lucky you know. I've loved Trunks since a kid, always following him around and stuff. Of course, I had no nose then. So he didn't notice me much. Now...well...I can't even describe how much I love the guy."

Pan's facade slipped a little into a frown.

"Aww...that's so cute Mar. Hey, Pan, something wrong?"

Pan shook her head. "No, nothing." Her two friends looked doubtful. Looking at her watch, she found the perfect escape from their stares. "Um...we're gonna be late for that get together guys."

"Oh crap!" Marron's eyes flew wide.

"OUT OF THAT DRESS!!! LET'S GO!!!" Bura scrambled into action.

"Gladly." Pan said.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"Karoke?"

"Why? You scared?"

Pan crossed her arms. "No."

Trunks smirked. "Really?"

"Come on Pan-chan...if it makes it any better I'll sing first." Marron grinned and started making her way up to the stage.

Nobody noticed Krillin and 18 backing slowly away from the room.

Marron's face lighted up as she held the micro phone, eyes set on Trunks. He smiled in return.

Pan fought the surge of jealously.

"Only....you..."

The whole room quietened in stunned horror at the out of tune, and raspy belt of the first line.

Trunks looked shocked, but plastered a smile.

"Can...make MY dreams come truuu...uuuuee..."

Pan bit her lips hard to stop laughing, partly stunned into silence. She could never tell that a nice voice like Marron's...couldn't sing...at all.

Thankfully her cell phone took that time to ring.

Muttering an excuse, Pan stumbled to the doorway, partly to hear whoever was on the phone and to get away from the singing. Poor Trunks was still plastering that grin as Marron came towards him, still singing.

"Hello?" Pan yelled into the phone.

"Hello Pan."

She suddenly spun, looking wildly around. She knew that voice. But it was impossible. No, there was no way...

Sure enough, Trunks was still there, ear drums ringing in the singing, no where NEAR a phone.

"Listen, you don't know me. But I am here to help...just what the hell is that screeching?" The familiar voice demanded.

Pan blinked, holding the phone at arms length before bringing it back.

"Er...nevermind. Who is this!? And why are you stealing Trunk's voice!?"

The person on the other end laughed, a creepily familiar laugh. "Believe me I'm not. This is my voice. But I'm not who you think I am."

Again, Pan looked over her shoulder, and yes, Trunks was still there, amazingly still surviving, but his ears should be bleeding soon. Everyone else was still in stunned horror.

"WHO IS THIS!?! Tell me now or I'll..."

"Call me...Toran. You're new best friend."

"Well...Toran, what do you want with me?" Pan's eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"To help of course. How much do you love Trunks?"

She froze, the next words coming from her lips in a hiss. "How do you know that you creep?"

The voice hesitated. "I know because I heard you."

"Oh and so you took pity on me is that it!? Why you sick creep, how did you get this num..."

"Nonono! It was nothing like that!" The male voice quickly straightened out.

"ONLY....YOoooooooooooUUUUUU!!!! CAN MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUUuuuuuuuuuuEEE!!!"

In spite of herself, Pan winced.

"Whoa, is that the fiancee singing? Man, that's baaaaad."

Pan fought a smile. This was a complete stranger! A creepy-stalker stranger at that!!!

"Look, I don't know what your up to but if you hurt me or my family..."

"I would never do that Pan. Believe me. I hold your family in the highest respect." He assured through the phone. "Plus, why would I do that? I've come to help you. Don't be scared. I won't do anything to you. Like I said, I'm going to help."

"Help? With what?" Against her will, her ever spanning curiousity got the better of her.

"To get Trunks of course."

Pan frowned. "What?"

"I have to go. I'll be in contact, Pan."

And before she could say any further, it disconnected.

Applaused sounded behind her.

"WOW! That was great Marron!" Bura's voice echoed in a cheery lie.

Pan looked back, her heart renching when she saw Marron in Trunk's arms. It wasn't fair.

It just wasn't fair.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"Pan...um...can you slow down...?" His mohawk whipping wildly in the wind, the currently very pale looking young male slid in his seat, willing the car to stop.

"I HAVE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TO GET BACK THE MAN I LOVE AND YOU WANT ME TO SLOW DOWN!?!"

He gulped. "Um...Pan...that's nice and all...but...just what are you planning to do?"

His stomach nearly came out of his throat as she suddenly skidded violently to a halt.

Pan slammed her head against the steering wheel.

"You're right...I have no idea what I'm doing. But I can't let him marry Marron...She'll thank me later. Trunks is arrogant, idiotic and non commiting, it'll be over before they say 'I do'...I'm just sparing her the heart ache..." Pan looked at Ubuu who was currently grabbing his chest to stop his heart from thudding from his chest. "What do you think?"

Eyes wide, Ubuu looked at her. "Right now?" He gasped. "I think your insane."

"Besides that!"

He struggled to breath. "Well, why do you want to have Trunks if he's so bad?"

"BECAUSE I LOVE HIM BAKA!!!" She screamed, stomping her foot on the accelerator. Ubuu took some nice and calming hyperventilating breaths.

"Then do something about it Pan. Tell him for one thing."

Pan stopped again, nearly throwing Ubuu out the wind sheild. She sighed. "I can't. I can't do it. It scares me to death. I know he feels SOMETHING for me! He's my closest friend! I can't just let him be taken by MARRON!"

Ubuu shook his head, straightening in the seat and thanking the Gods he was wearing a seat belt. "Pan. Tell him. It would be useless if he doesn't feel the same way... Any crazy schemes you think up won't work unless he feels the same way...or if you get rid of Marron..." He added almost jokingly.

Pan suddenly grinned.

"Um...Pan? Your scaring me..."

"That's it! Get rid of Marron! Of course she'll get heart broken, but she'll get over it. But I truly love him. I can't let it END LIKE THIS!!!"

The car lurched into motion once again, breaking all traffic laws as it went, fully accompanied with a young man's distressed yells of slowing down.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"No. Pan...it's wrong. You shouldn't do this."

"Come on Ubuu...we're gonna be late for the rehearsal!" Pan dragged him along.

"That's my point! You can't tell him NOW!!!"

"Well I..."

"PAN!!! YOU MADE IT!!!" Bulma rushed down from the aisle in glee, a smile from ear to ear. She looked in surprise at the young man beside Pan.

"Bulma, where is Trunks?"

"Hmph. That boy is busy doing Kami knows what." Bulma looked at the young man again. "You look familiar..."

Pan suddenly had a surge of inspiration. "Bulma...you remember Ubuu right? My...fiancee?"

Bulma and Ubuu had shocked looks on their faces.

Ubuu fortunately was the first to recover, leaning down so only Pan could hear. "You owe me BIG."

"That's right Ms Bulma, Pan and I are getting married! Right snookums?" He placed an arm around her waist much to the discomfort of Pan.

"Omg...THAT'S FABULOUS!!! COME ON!!! I HAVE TO TELL SOMEONE!!!" Bulma screamed, hugging them fiercely before running back up the aisle, leaping for joy.

Pan looked at Ubuu. "You are going to horribly humilate me aren't you?"

"Count on it Pan. Count on it." And they walked after Bulma.

Trunk's eyes narrowed as he saw Pan and Ubuu together.

His mother shouted with glee at the possibilities of a double wedding. But Pan...and Ubuu? It wasn't right. It was downright WRONG. Was he...jealous?!

"You okay babe?"

He turned to smile at Marron. "Fine. Can I have more cake?"

Marron pinched him playfully. "You're going to get fat soon if you keep asking me."

He frowned. "I am not fat."

"Course you're not babe. You're perfect." And she hugged him.

Oblivious to him, Pan frowned opposite him.

"Act happy. This is your idea in the first place." Ubuu whispered.

Pan forced another smile.

"So Pan, when did you and Ubuu meet up again?" Goten teased.

"Um..."

"Actually it's very romantic." Ubuu said smoothly. "And I wouldn't like to take the pleasure of telling you from Pan-chan here." And to add torture to pain, he lightly kissed her hair like couples do.

Pan looked wide eyed at him, scrambling for ideas. "Um..."

"Yes, do tell Pan." Gohan looked at Ubuu like a bug on his floor. Ubuu smiled weakly.

"Oh but Ubuu tells it so much better...don't you...honey?" Pan fluttered her eyelashes.

Ubuu shot her a glare. "Well, if you insist. Actually, I didn't recognise her at first. I was getting some supplies for my island in Southern Capitol, when low and behold, another bank robbery. That's where I saw Pan here. Kami she looked beautiful. But I didn't know who she was then. I thought she was another damsel in distress."

There were sniggers as he paused.

Pan looked at him in amazement.

"So there I go and save this beauty from bad guys in black. I was fully prepared for the crying things damsels turn to when faced with horrifying danger. What didn't expect for the damsel to punch my lights out through several buildings."

More laughter.

"And I knew she was the one." Ubuu finished simply.

Trunks looked at him in suspicion. "She punched you and you fell madly in love with her?" He said incredulously.

Ubuu shrugged. "Yes. Strange, but yes."

Pan laughed nervously. "Did it several times too." She added.

Ubuu put an arm around her shoulders. "Of course, she repaid me later...in other ways..." He gave them a suggestive wink.

Pan's eyes flew wide as a blush spread over her cheeks.

"Well, well, not the daddy's girl after all...Pan...I'm jealous." Bura teased. This left her friend spluttering for several minutes while Gohan glared at Ubuu.

Trunks had the sudden urge to rip the other man's throat out for touching his Panny girl. His eyes narrowed.

"Er...I think we'll be going..." Pan said hastily, grabbing Ubuu.

"But honey...the rehearsal wasn't perfect...I think the happy couple might want to do it again..."

"LET'S GO!!!"

They all blinked as Pan dragged her 'fiancee' out the door.

"Bakas." Vegeta muttered.

     ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"ARGH!!!"  Thud. Thud. Thud.

"Pan..stop it."

"I am an idiot." Thud. Thud. Thud.

"Yeah, an idiot that's about to get a concussion. Stop it." Ubuu grabbed her from the wall, hugging her for comfort. "You are seriously indebted to me Pan. You know I hate lying, especially to them."

She sighed against his chest. "Why couldn't you be NOT gay."

Ubuu patted her head. "Because then I wouldn't be as adorable and cute as I am now."

Pan pushed against him. "What am I going to do?"

Like an answering pray, her cell phone rang. With a casual flip, she answered.

"Yes?"

"Hello again."

Ubuu noticed her stiffen, raising his eyebrows at her.

"What do you want...Toran?" She said icily.

The all to familiar voice sighed. "I don't want anything. I'm here to help you remember?"

"Stay away from me you creep." She shot back. Ubuu stiffened at her words, frowning.

"Okay, okay. I'm just here to give you ideas. Do you remember the company Android 18 set up a few years ago? Guess who's the sole inheriter if Marron was still working?"

Pan looked at Ubuu. "But Marron still works, she..." Ubuu shook his head and mouthed 'no'.

"That's right. She gave it up to be with Trunks. Now what woman would give all that money up that easily? Especially the daughter of a certain money loving android. So obviously when they get married, the companies should merge right?"

Pan narrowed her eyes, Ubuu's ears pressed to the other side of the phone.

"Wrong. 18 won't let that happen unless Marron is at the head of it. But since Marron dropped out of college and her job to be with Trunks, she can't be president any more. However, if she decides to go back...regardless of Trunks, everyone is happy except Trunks, who will be betrayed..."

"And run to me." Pan finished.

The voice made a noise of agreement. "It's your choice Pan. But I think Ubuu is right. You should tell him."

Ubuu on the other side of the cell phone raised his eyebrows at her.

"Who...who is this?" She whispered.

"All in due time Pan. I'll be talking to you soon." And he disconnected.

Pan looked at Ubuu. Ubuu looked at Pan.

"You know this is ridiculous don't you? You're taking advice from a complete stranger, shouldn't you be worried or something?"

Pan gave him a look. "But this Toran is right. I need to do something, or tell him. So I'm going to do something."

Ubuu sweat dropped.
