Snow
Softly and silently
By snow transformed
The dismal sullied greys are
Transfigured, reborn
As gleaming whiteness
Fields and hedgerows,
Roofs and gardens
Buried, shrouded
Beneath a snowy blanket.
It seems like sacrilege to tread
Across the virgin whiteness
The flakes fall faster
I stand transfixed
Amid the swirling stillness
Wishing. I processed perception
To see the crystalline complexity
Of each falling flake.
The branches bow
Beneath their icy weight,
The hungry birds seek food
Scattered in the silent gardens.
Invisible, the roots are stirring
Waiting for the quickening time.
