| Curtis' next goal is to qualify for the 2000 Paralympic, in Sydney Australia. Based on what I have read about him, I believe we will see him there. | |||
| Well Guess what, I believe my prediction was correct. The following information is a letter I received from Curtis, I am truly pleased and excited. On June 26,in the ballroom. they announce the 2000 USA Paralympic Swim Team. That will represent our country. When they called my name I got, I was overwhelm. The IPC members came up to me and said, you'll do well. You deserve it. "nothing can't stop you now!" There were so many people in the room that was pulling-for me. "What a dream come true!" I drop 18 pound to swim faster. I change my diet. I kept my eye on the prize.1996 only made me stronger and determine to achieve my goal. Instead of getting BITTER, I got BETTER. Thank you JESUS! This young man is so passionate I thought it best to print his whole story. As the description of him says "World Class Athelete, Curtis will also be part of the Fencing Team", read that part of his story. |

| Here is the result."GOD is GOOD ALL THE TIME!
On June 23,during the warm-up I was swimming World Record (WR) pace. The 1st event was the 50m.freestyle. The WR was 1:10.00. I hold the American Record (AR), which is 1:18.02. "GOD told me in 1996 that He will redeem me, just be patient, so I was. I
took off in the prelim, when I got to the end of the wall, I looked at the scoreboard, I saw 1:05.00 A NEW WORLD RECORD.
"WE DID-IT! When I got out of the pool the media went CRAZY. Everyone wanted an interview. All I could say was, "thank you JESUS. HIS word is never void. WE cut 8 seconds off the AR. and cut 5 sec. off the WR. One of the reporter said that this is UNBELIVERABLE. One of the IPC member came up to me and said that if I can finish strong in the final tonight, I'm on my way to Sydney. I knew I was on my way that morning, because I kept HIS promise. Well that night at the final I took-off, I swim the 1st
25 meter w/o breathing, than I heard the HOLY SPIRIT say "NOW IS THE TIME" all I can do is get to the end as fast as I can. When I look at the score board, it was 1:02.0.WE cut 3 more second off the new WR.MY FATHER is GREAT! NOW the media is really losing it now!!!! I wish you all were there to see it for yourself. It wasn't me it was GOD's anointing. On June 24,I swim the 50m backstroke. my old record 1:18.03.I swim 1:25.00.Came back to the final and swim 1:26.21.My mind was only focus on the 50/100m freestyle.
On June 25, my last event was The 100m freestyle, the WR is
2:31.0.During the warm-up I was swimming unofficially 2:08.00. This is the day that the WR will fall. In my heat was (2) S2, (1) S3, (2) S4, (1) S5, and (1) S7 swimmer. The S7 swimmer swam the 100m in 1:01.0, we took off. I was told later that I was the 1st one to hit the wall. When I completed the 15meter I was feeling great at this time. But all of settle I had no energy to finish the race. I just barely finished the race. I felt like God grabbed all my energy out of my body. When I got out of the pool, one of the official came-up to me and said, "Do you realize what happen," I said yes, I set new AR. She said "I'm not talking about the new AR, you were swimming with a S4, S5. &S7. You blew all of them out the pool." This is beyond my wildest dream, this is unheard of by Quad. You actually swam 1:01.0.0 in the 1st 50m. Who are you? It not me it is GOD power! When I return to my room for some QT with the HOLY SPIRIT, I ask what happen. Reply was: "THAT WAS NOT THE TIME YET, SAVE SOME FOR SYDNEY. The tears of joy were just rolling down my face. My cup is just running over. I received (3) 1st place Gold medals. But most of all I received one of the HIGHEST AWARD THAT EVERY SWIMMER WANT TO RECEIVE AMONG HIS PEERS. That is the "PHILLIP 66" Swimmer of the meet. When they called my name I was just in shock. I truly believe that this other swimmer would win the male award. The guy walk up to me and said "Curtis, this week you showed everybody that you're a great swimmer, matter fact you're an "Elite SWIMMER! ALL that hard work is paying-off." All I could think about and see in my mind was my Father and (2) brothers smiling at me. "Never give-up fight-it to the end. |
