BEAUTIFUL

Sitting in front of the mirror.

Face bare, a blank canvas. Ready. Waiting.

A small bottle.

Flesh-coloured liquid spread evenly over the skin. Not obscuring it completely, just improving it.

It isn’t even, but it appears to be. Some parts need more than others.

Thin pencils.

Outlining the eyebrows, shaping them to perfection.

Another encircles the eyes. Careful not to smudge.

A small, rectangular compact. Different colors. Like an artist’s palette.

Brushing on one bright color followed by another. Blending slightly, but not too much. Enjoying the dramatic effect. Adding more. A lot is needed in order for it to show up effectively on stage.

Long, thick, dark lashes.

Fake. Glued on precisely.

Wonderfully curly and theatrical.

Selecting the perfect lipstick.

Blood red.

A matching outline, gradually filled in with a small brush.

Definitely kissable, to say the least.

Hair.

Covered with a gorgeous, ebony mane.

Looks better than what is natural.

Suits the character.

Standing.

Expertly stepping into the costume.

Making last adjustments.

One final glance in the mirror.

There’s no other word for it.

A masterpiece.

The amazing transformation is complete.

What was once a he, is now a she.

Beautiful.
