Other Stuff

I really don't know much about Mike at ALL.. but I'll do my best here..

Mike was born in Dallas Texas to Bette and Warren Nesmith. Warren was in the military and eventually Bette got sick of that life, and left him, taking Mike with her. Mike's childhood was fairly poor, and his mom worked as a secretary, often leaving him home alone.

In 1955-6 Bette created something we all now know as Liquid Paper, but didn't get rich overnight. And since this is about Mike, not Mom & Liquid Paper..

Mike made two singles for Colgems before joining the Monkees, under the name of Michael Blessing. Mike was the only Monkee to actually see the now-famous ad in the paper. He showed up to the cattle call in his wool hat and a bag of laundry over his shoulder. Oh, yeah, he got married to Phyllis Barbour before the Monkees and had two sons, Christian Du Val Nesmith (January 31, 1965), and Jonathan Darby Nesmith (Febuary 4, 1968) and a daughter, Jessica Buffler Nesmith (September 10, 1970). In 1967 he had an affair with Nurit Wilde and she had Jason Nemsith (August 7, 1968).

Mike thought it was very important to be involved in the music, and had songs he had written on the first albums. As I'm sure you know when reciving his gold record for MOTM's they were told about the next album already being made. After some dumb lawyer made a comment on how Mike didn't have a say, Mike punched a hole in the side of the wall, and screamed "That could have been your FACE motherfucker!" then stormed out.

Mike stayed on the Monkees until The Monkees Present, and then left. He had a few lean years in the early 70's, but in 1979 Bette (oh come on, look up! Bette's Mike's mom.. do I have to tell you everything?) sold Liquid Papar to the Gillette company (I shall use this opputunity to point out that the horrible Gillette company tests on animals- now back to our regularly scheduled Mike) When Bette died in 1980 she left half her fortune to Mike (he inherited almost 25 million).

Mike then created Pacific Arts Studio, produced the movie Repo Man, and practically created MTV. He made a music video (and it won a Grammy and that's all I can remember and I may be wrong, but Oh-Well) and the short lived TV show (from which comes the quoteable quotes such as "The fish eat my furniture") Elephant Parts.

At some point in time Mike married Kathryn, but they didn't have any children. They have since divorced. However, Mike has recently married his long-time girlfriend Victoria.

Mike declined from joining Micky Davy and Peter with Pool It, but did join up with them for JustUs, and a tour of England. Mike's no longer touring because a) he doesn't like touring and b)he's working on the new Monkee movie.
