"Salazar, is this even remotely
needed? We could just get the village carpenter..." Godric closed his mouth
when Salazar give him one long cool look.
"I don't trust the
village carpenter to get all the spells woven into the wood correctly." Godric
rolled his eyes and snorted.
"Sal, my friend? How many spells
does a baby need in a cradle?"
"You''re really as stupid as you
look, it's not just misdirection, is it?" Salazar had to remind himself that
hexing his wife's cousin and his own best friend was a bad idea. Even if the man
had punched him in the shoulder. "We need charms to alert us when the
baby awakes. When it's hungry, when it's wet, if it's sick, charms to rock
itself, to keep it the perfect tempature, to prevent anyone with ioll intent
from removing the baby from the bed, to prevent the bed from being removed from
the room, to repel any curses..."
"Salazar...who would break into
your bedroom and steal your baby? Every young lady in the castle is waiting on
tenderhooks for it."
"Exactally! Under no circumstances do I want
one of your silly little first years trying to pick up my child and dropping it
on it's head!" He frowned as Godric began to cackle foolishly, holding onto his
shoulder for support.
"Sal, you're going to be a wonderful father
one day...if you can ever cut those apron strings!"
"There are no
apron strings!" Godric laughed harder "Godic, by Merlin, if you don't stop
laughing at me..." The younger man wiped his eyes theatrically and straightened
up.
"Fine my friend, let us find the wood for this cradle. What
kind are we looking for?"
"Well...Rowan has many magical
properties, but Holly is also strong and pure as well..."
"We'll
just...know it when we see it."
