Winter. To some it is the season of stressful Christmas shopping. To others it is a depressing time of long bitter nights. To me, it is neither of those things. I see, and have always seen winter as something wonderful, fantastic, and worth while. Winter is more then a cold and dreary season, where the plants die, and the animals flee. It is a time for the inadimate to shine. I personally prefer cold to hot. Night over day. I really do not kno how to portray it, so I'll just talk radomly of the things I like about winter. Here it goes. Snowmen, snow angels, fresh blankets of snow, snow storms in the night as the street lights illuminate the clouded sky, snowball fights, shoveling snow, snow, icicles, frost on trees, seeing my breath, skiing, Christmas spirit, children's laughter, the sound of snow crunching beneath my feet as I make funny tracks in the fresh blanket, burying myself under snow, walking through a deserted town with a friend during a blizzard, falling/jumping/hurling myself off of fenses, out of doors, off of snow, to land into more snow, coming inside from out to warm up and have an ice cold glass of orange juice, sitting inside drinking hot chocolate while looking out, sledding, running and sliding on large patches of ice, holding snow in my hand until it melts into nothing, the break from summer, the looking forward to summer, toques, the bright sun and the white snow making a blinding sight, the cold air opening my lungs, and the quiet, peaceful presence winter gives the world around me. That's what I think about winter. It's enjoyable. I feel that anyone can love winter if they go out and experience it. I would get depressed during winter too if I were to stay cooped up inside day in and out. We were not meant to live inside, we are suppose to live outside in the amazing world Mother Nature gives us. If you become depressed during the winter season, do me and yourself a favour. Throw on you coat, mitts, boots, and toques. Go outside and breath the fresh air, get some natural light, and play in the snow. Bring a friend, or go alone, throw a ball of snow, or make a snowman. Make a snow angel at least and you will see, just how wonderful winter can be. |
