This is a run and jump platform game. Those who miss the old games like Donkey Kong or Super Mario Brothers find items and characters in this game somewhat familiar and take an instant like to the game. There are many gadgets (switches, moving platforms, conveyor belts, springs etc) in this game and require some thinking.
Story:
Donkey Kong watched TV commercial and instantly had a desire to own a Mini-Mario Toy. Unfortunately, those Mini-Mario Toys were in such great demand that they were sold out from all store. Bad habits never die. This time, instead of kidnapping Mario's girlfriend, Donky Kong kidnaps toys. He goes to the Mario Toy Factory and steals a huge bag of toy. It is up to Mario to save the day. Mario runs after Donkey Kong to get back his Mini-Mario Toys.
Layout:
Mario has to go through 6 different worlds. Each world has 8 sections. 6 sections consists of 2 levels. For one level, Mario must get the key to unlock the door. In the other level, Mario goes to rescue one of his Mini-Mario Toys. After finishing these sections, you go to the next section where you have to lead to 6 Mini-Mario toys, that you had rescued, to the toy box. After that, you go to the last section of the world where you have to fight Donky Kong to get all your toys back before proceeding to the next world. For the first 3 sections, if you collect all 3 presents (red, blue and yellow), you can play a bonus round to try your chance at getting extra lives. There are 2 kinds of bonus rounds. One of them is choosing a present out of the 3 presents. The other one is swapping the presents around such that for the remaining present of the 3 presents that Donkey Kong does not smashes, you get to keep.
After you have finished the 6 worlds, you can unlock and play 6 new worlds. This time you have to find a Nini-Mario Toy and lead it to open the locked door. In addition to this, you can unlocked expect levels as a bonus when you collect stars. You can collect one star when you complete a level with 3 presents and with get a high score.
