| The only male born to the powerful Winner family, Quatre is the youngest of thirty children. He is also different from his sisters in another way, for he is the only child who was not a test tube baby. When the Winner family moved to the colonies, there were complications in their reprudictive systems, making test tube babies a safer alternative to natural birth. Quatre's mother, Quatrine Winner wanted the best for him, for those born from a test tube were thought of as lower than a normally conceived person, so she decided to give birth to him naturally, dying as a result. Not wanting him to feel any different than his sisters (or place the blame of his mother's death on himself), Quatre's father told him that he, too, was a test tube baby. Quatre grew up feeling that he was no more than a science experiment, and ran away from home at the age of twelve. He then met the Maguanacs, a group of Middle Eastern rebel soilders. By saving their leader, Rashid's, life, Quatre earned their trust and they began calling him Quatre-sama (Master Quatre). Test tube babies themselves, the Maguanacs taught Quatre that he was equal to every one else, and he finally accepted himself. Quatre left the Magunacs to return home, and he was trained to become a Gundam pilot. Against his father's wishes, he went through with Operation Meteor, once again reunited with the Maguanacs on Earth. |
