God's Provision
Brenda

Just before our last child was born, we were in ministry in a small community, and our finances were the tightest they have ever been. We were burdened about many things--the ministry, the birth of our baby, and, of course, money, which was getting desperate.

One afternoon a man came to visit. He stayed for a while, talking and encouraging us. He knew all about our ministry, though we didn't know him (and as it turned out later, no one else in this small community knew him either). He began to tell us about the way we were feeling, assuring us that God was pleased with the job we were doing; he assured us that our baby's birth, which was to be at home, was going to be just perfect; and he said, "And you have a financial need; how much is it?" My husband demurred, but the man interrupted, "I know you don't like to talk about it, but this time you have to--how much?" My husband answered, "A thousand dollars." The man left shortly after that.

The next day, he came to our door again, and handed my husband an envelope. He said, "This isn't what you asked for, but it's what the Lord wanted you to have--with the stipulation that 25% of it goes to your wife, to do with as she sees fit." As he was leaving, he turned and said,"Oh, there is no phone where I am, so if you need to get hold of me, just pray real hard.

There was $2000 in cash in the envelope.
