history: Caitha's parents were Runnerbeast breeders (her mother was originally born to a band of Pernese gypsies). she grew up around animals of all kinds, but has always had a soft spot for runners. one day, she accompanied her father on a trip to a Gather to sell their newest herd of runners, when she was approached by a Blue on search. it turns out the dragon picked her to be on the grounds for a Queen egg. Caitha was very uncertain about Impressing, and doubted anything would come of her trip to the hatching grounds. the Weyrleader thought differently, however, and, because of the lack of Queen candidates for that hatching, believed she would impress a Gold. instead she Impressed the green dragon Raeyth before the gold had even begun to come out of her egg.
Caitha originally had a hard time living so far from her native countryside. she returned frequently to see her parents and their farm, making good use of Raeyth's excellent /between/ sense (and, in fact, illicitly traveling before the Weyrlingmaster granted her permission). because of her regular visits, the newer generation of runners on the farm grew accustomed to having a rather large dragon on the premises. their lack of fear of dragons made Caitha's father's runners very attractive to buyers, and to this day he encourages her and Raeyth to return as often as they can to familiarize the two breeds of animals.
she and Raeyth transferred because of an overpopulation of Greens at their old Weyr.
personality: on the shy side, but once she gets over her initial nervousness about meeting new people, she's quite friendly. not one to congregate with large groups, she prefers a small cluster of close friends. while she doesn't really have a bad temper, if she's angry she becomes overly sarcastic. she's also very stubborn.

dragon name: Raeyth
age: 4 1/2
size, color, etc: very dark jade green, and on the larger end of the green scale (about the size of a Blue, but with the agility and speed of a typical Green). her larger build gives her more stamina than most Greens as far as how long she can sustain hard flights.
personality: not as shy as her rider, Raeyth tries to balance Caitha's sometimes extreme introvert behavior by encouragement. she's pretty easy-going, a little introspective, and not much of a flirt for a Green. Raeyth is, however, very protective of her rider, and doesn't hesitate to make her presence known should she detect a threat. she loves to perch high above the Weyr bowl and watch those down below.
and finally...Caitha has a small blue firelizard named Xared. he's almost 3 turns. she never meant to impress him, but it happened anyway when she was trying to help him stretch out his left wing (it was injured during the hatching). the wing never did grow properly, and it makes him unable to fly for long periods of time. Xared's preferred perch is on Caitha's right shoulder. he and Raeyth have a strong mental connection, and she looks at him like a little brother.
