This is my first attempt at a scope to the right. Below is the rehash of that scope..  I have been reading the ATM list and it's members have been very helpfull and I wish to thank all of them for thier honest input.
This project started out many years ago as a child when my parents bought me a 4.5" scope from the local store.  Even though it never really worked well. I used it all the time.  As the years past and I became interested in other things, my scope and I parted ways.  I dragged it out about a year ago for my children, 3 boys, then 3, 6, 9 in age.  They enjoyed it but said things didnt look right, things were fuzzy and the moon was blury. And of course they were right. They were looking through a toy department 4.5" scope that was at least 30 yrs old.  So being handy with tools, I started on my quest.  The only parts that I would purchase would be the mirror set, lens, and gun scope.  Everything else would come from my stock pile of stuff.
"Quick hid the kids, dad has his tools out again!"
***UPDATE***
It has been now 3 yrs since my last adventure into telescope making.  I have made one 6" mirror and modified my 8" scope.  Now the bug has struck again.  I have decided to build a new scope.  This is a Bino-scope using a dual 12" f/5 mirror setup.  I will be posting photos of it and keeping a log of progress.  It has been started over the past weekend.  Here I will show photos of its progress.  This is a project unlike anything else in astronomy that I have done and should be interesting.  The boys (my 3 sons) have given the scope a name already.  Donatello after the teenage muntent ninja turtles.  The building log is kept on here.
