| One night she had a dream. She was standing somewhere. She opened her eyes and there was nothing around her. It was all black. She rubbed her hands together and realised she was naked. She began to walk through the blackness. Hours, days, years passed and she was happy. She smiled out to the nothingness and began laughing. Tears streamed down her pale face and perfectly white body. She had never felt so untroubled. She kept walking and in the distance she spotted a white dot. Curiously, she stumbled forward until she stood at the foot of a fluorescent white door. She reached forward, poked the door open slightly with a soft push of her finger and peered inside. A pretty smile spread across her face as the colour entered her eyes. She looked back at the blackness behind her, smiled at what had been her home for so long, looked at her pink fingers and felt the blood rush to her head. Then Caroline walked through the doorway and felt a warmness in her heart. She was immersed in colours. The sky was blue, the ground was green and the horizon was something between the two. A colour she fell in love with immediately. It reminded her of a faded memory. She began to search around for the black she had once known. But nowhere was it to be found. She tried to close her eyes to see if she might picture it in her head. But each time she closed her eyes she could only picture in her head the blue sky, the green ground and the unreachable horizon. She tried to open her eyes but she couldn't. She could only close them and reclose them, each time sinking deeper and deeper into her dream. Then she stopped everything. She stood perfectly still and ran her eyes across the beautiful colours. She lost track of time, as you do in dreams and again a warm smile crept across her face. She breathed in deeply, blinked a tear away and walked back to the fluorescent white door. She wanted to go back. But the door was locked. She peered through the keyhole but couldnt see the blackness. She felt her heart crumpling and her happiness slowly drained from her. The colour left her skin and her eyes. She was tired. She walked back to her special spot where she had stood for so long, tilted her head slightly and stared out at the horizon. She began to cry. Years later she returned to the white door. It was slightly ajar. She opened the door and saw nothing behind it. |

| you are yourself when no one's watching you lose yourself and lose your footing if i could install a camera in the back of my head i would record all my years alone in Tibet and when i'm dead you'll find my corpse in a cellar under the sea behind three locked doors then you'll know who i really was a hermit, a loner, a recluse a miserable life put to no use you'll get to know me from afar when you put the recording in a VCR. |
