Magister Negi Magi: Wales Trip

Negi Springfield was anticipating this as much as his class. Final exams were given, and everyone was doing their best to pass them. Negi had planned to return to Wales for a visit for some time. However, things would be different. One of his students would be joining him. That student was Asuna. Negi arranged for Chachamaru to take over Asuna's paper route for a few days. Negi and Asuna packed up their things and got ready for the trip.

When that day arrived, Negi and Asuna went by train to the airport. Unfortunately, for them, an accident earlier blocked the train line, and the train got delayed by about 15 minutes. Negi and Asuna had to run to the gate; unfortunately again, someone gave an anonymous tip that there may be some terrorist activity at the airport. The guards stopped them and searched their luggage. This delayed them even further. By the time they actually got to the gate, the airplane had pulled out and was taxing down the runway. Naturally, Asuna was not a happy camper. "Well, what do we do now?" Asuna asked. "Let's see if we can get on a later flight." Negi said.

Therefore, they went to the counter and asked the person there about the next flight. "That's tomorrow, and it's already sold out. The next one that's available is Tuesday." The counter person said. "That's not until next week!" Asuna retorted. Well, after walking away from the place, they went back to the school to weigh their options. "Couldn't you just fly us there?" Asuna asked. "Well, I might be able to fly just us, but our luggage would be too heavy." Negi replied. They thought for a moment. "Well, there may be one other option." Negi said. "The headmaster has a teleportation spell. I'll see if I can get it from him." Negi said.

Later on, Negi gathered the items needed to perform the spell. He drew a pentagram with a circle around it. Asuna stood in the center with their luggage. Negi was next to her as he recited the spell. It took him a good while to recite this powerful spell, but he managed to do so. Unfortunately (yet again,) instead of ending up at their gate at London's Heathrow airport, they ended up in a woman's bathroom at Moscow International airport. "EEEEEK! YOU FILTHY PERVERT!" A woman screamed at him in Russian. One well-placed fist to the jaw by her sent Negi flying out, putting a large hole into the wall in the process. Negi landed in the hall a considerable distance away with a dull thud. Asuna ran after Negi and caught up to him. "Negi-kun, are you all right?" Asuna asked. "Uh..." was Negi's faint reply before passing out.

Negi later revived and was back in action a bit later. Asuna retrieved their luggage from the woman's bathroom and then found someone who could tell her where they were. She informed Negi that they were at Moscow international. "Our flight was supposed to have a 15 minute layover here." Negi said. They checked around and found a translator for hire. Negi paid the man and they found out their flight was in the 10th minute of the layover. They quickly checked their bags and went to the gate. After passing security, they boarded the flight and it took off.

The flight was uneventful except for one thing: there was a bomb on the plane. The in-flight movie was "Dude, Where's My Car?" Asuna and Negi merely didn't watch it, and used the time to catch up with various things. Since the flight was about 3 time zone changes (and 9 from Japan,) Negi explained to Asuna about jet lag and cast a small spell on her to help fight it. The two of them relaxed with some fruit juice and talked for a bit. Asuna relaxed as did Negi.

After landing at Heathrow airport, Negi and Asuna got their luggage and took the Tube to the train station. Negi got the tickets and they boarded the train to Wales.

On the way to Wales, Negi and Asuna talked some more. Asuna commented that she thought the English countryside was beautiful. Being a Japanese city girl, she rarely got to see the countryside even in Japan. Asuna was visiting a foreign country for the first time, and was excited about seeing it. Asuna took out her sketchpad (for she was in the art club, after all) and drew a composite of the countryside. Well, the train at long last pulled into Llainfairpwll (as some of the locals call it) station. The city's full name was Llainfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllantsiliogogoch.

"This stop sure has a long name." Asuna said. "It's Welsh. It means 'The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave' if I remember correctly. It's also the city with the longest name in the world." Negi said.

Negi and Asuna disembarked with their bags. Waiting at the station was Negi's sister. She greeted both of them warmly. "So brother, who is girl you've got with you?" Negi's sister asked.

"My lame is Asuna Kagurazaka." Asuna said. Negi smiled nervously. "Erm... Asuna is still learning English." Negi said. "Well Negi, your advisor wants to have your report tomorrow at 1300." Negi's sister said. "Advisor?" Asuna asked. "I'm still in training, so I have to report to him what I'm doing and how I'm doing." Negi said. They went to the Springfield family home, known as St. Ulric's respite. Negi returned to his room and Asuna went into the guest room. After getting squared away, they relaxed for a bit.

When teatime came, Negi's sister had made scones for tea, and she served everything up. "So I see you've made one friend here." Negi's sister said. "How have things been going?" Negi gave a polite smile. "Well... I really haven't gotten used to being a teacher yet." He said. "Negi-kun has done a lot. Some of it good, some of it bag." Asuna said. "She's a regular Mrs. Malaprop. Is she typical of your students?" Negi's sister asked. "Oh no. Asuna is a first-year student when it comes to English." Negi said. "Who is Mrs. Malaprop?" Asuna asked. "She was a character in a play." Negi responded. He left out the part about her being famous for using the wrong word now and then. Tea continued with them like this.

When dinnertime came, Asuna agreed to help in the kitchen. Despite never having cooked before (meals are included with board at her school,) Asuna learned the basics of cooking from Negi's sister. "You're learning beautifully." Negi's sister said. "Do you always learn this fast?" Asuna got nervous. "Erm... Well... Not really." She said. "I barley passed Negi-kun's course." She replied. "Even with his help." They made a good meal together and served it up. "This is very good, even better than usual, sis." Negi said. "Asuna was very useful in the kitchen." Negi's sister replied. Everyone had dinner and a decent time, even if it did look like Asuna was using a little too much pepper. She was used to spicy foods, and not the bangers and mash they had that night.

That evening Negi and Asuna spent it talking with each other and his sister. "So, do you like Wales so far?" Negi asked. "The place is beautiful." Asuna said. "The countryside with the sheet in their pastures was breathtaking." Negi smiled. "That's sheep." He corrected her. They talked until bedtime and then slept in separate rooms.

The next morning, Asuna woke up and stretched. She then did her morning ritual of showering, fixing her makeup and the like. Asuna picked out a nice blouse and shorts to wear. Breakfast consisted of more conversation and various things. After breakfast, Negi and Asuna went out to make the report. They walked from Negi's home to the campus of Negi's magic school. It was about midway there when Negi ran into trouble. A male in his late teens, accompanied by a blonde girl were there. "Well, if it isn't Negi screw-up." The guy said. Negi got very nervous. "Who are you?" Asuna asked. The teen ignored Asuna and picked on Negi. "Heard your class was dead last this past semester. Looks like screw-up can't teach." The teen said. "Hey! How dare you! Negi worked very hard leaching us!" Asuna responded. "So your little Negi's a pervert too, hmm? Figures." The teen said. Asuna looked over at Negi, who was merely standing there, trembling with fear. "Negi! Aren't you going to say anything?" Asuna asked. She was responded with silence. Asuna grabbed Negi's shoulders and shook him. "Sap out of it! What's going on here!?" Asuna asked Negi. "Well, looks like screw-up is gonna cry home to mommy. HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHA!!" With that, the teen and the female left.

Negi just stood there, stunned. Asuna stopped trying to get Negi out of his shock. "That was... Your school bully, wasn't it?" Asuna asked. "Y... Yes..." Negi stammered. "You can't let him get away with that, Negi. Bullies will walk over you if you don't stand over him." Asuna said. "He's... A better wizard than me." Negi said. "I don't believe that for one minute. He's a big bullfrog and needs to be taught a lesson." Asuna said. "Uh... I think you mean bully." Negi said. "He's also capable of powerful magic." Asuna merely shook her head. "Well, we have to get to the advisor's office." She said.

Once there, they went to the office and waited. "The advisor will see you now." The secretary said. Upon entering the room, they met Negi's advisor, an older man with a long, graying beard. Without looking at them, he asked them to sit. "Ah, Mr. Springfield. How are things in Japan?" He asked, while writing on a sheet of paper. "Well, my first school year wasn't that good..." Negi responded. That's when the advisor took one look at Asuna and turned very pale. He stood up and approached Asuna. "By the Gods..." Negi's advisor said in her astonishment. "What are you talking about?" Asuna asked. "Is this related to one of the prophesies?" Negi asked. "Indeed it is. One of our most powerful prophesies states this: From the east shall come a maiden fair, hair of fire and eyes of different colors." Negi's advisor recited. "From the West shall come a handsome lad, and brown will be his hair and eyes." He continued. Asuna was starting to get anxious at this point. She had never really heard of anyone involving her in any prophesy before, let alone a major one. "Together they shall become a major force for good, and together they shall help keep the cosmic balance. Together, they will never be defeated. Evil will tremble in fear at their names. Their descendants will be this way for a thousand generations."

Asuna was too startled at this point to respond. "It was said that you would meet at a young age, and even defeat an ancient menace shortly thereafter." Negi's advisor said as tears of joy filled her eyes. Asuna realized that was their fight with Evangeline. "Wait a minute here... Are you saying that Negi and I get married and have kids?" Asuna asked. "Oh yes... And I can tell you two have made the pactio." Negi's advisor said.

Both Negi and Asuna turned as red as beets from embarrassment. "Uh... Well... Erm..." Negi stammered in his embarrassment. "It's all right, Negi. Do her parents know?" Negi's advisor asked. "I am an organ." Asuna said. "Uh... That's orphan." Negi corrected Asuna. "Hmm... I will keep it a secret. However, you might request that she be put into another class." Negi's advisor said. "You don't want to be in a conflict of interest." Negi pondered this for a moment, and agreed. Asuna agreed as well.

"You did tell her the full consequences of making a pactio before doing it, right?" The advisor asked. "Erm... I think so." Negi responded. "Then you accept that Negi will be the only man you can love and vice versa?" The advisor asked. "Well... I never heard that." Asuna said. "I haven't either." Negi added." The advisor smiled. The first pactio is the only one that counts. You two are going to be a major force for good and justice someday. I suggest you two practice more together." The advisor said. "Report your progress next year again." Negi and Asuna left the advisor's office.

On the way back home, they ran into the school bully again. The blonde was also nearby. "So, you went home and cried, didn't you?" The bully chided Negi. Asuna had enough of this. She got the card from Negi and it turned into her fighting fan. "Look pal, you're just a bully and a loudmouth! I've had it with you!" Asuna said. The woman with him drew a sword from nowhere. "Bring it on." She said. They clashed as Negi and the guy began casting spells. It was a rout from the beginning. The blonde fought dirty, smacking Asuna in her eyes. Asuna went down, hurting. This distracted Negi and he messed up his spell. The bully finished his, and struck Negi with a firebolt. Negi went down as well. "Pathetic. Hardly worth my time. Screw-up screwed up again." The bully said. The blonde went over to Negi and looked at him. Her long tresses got into his face. "Cute doesn't win battles." She said. "Ah- ah- CHOO!!!" Negi let out a sneeze that caught the blonde, slamming her into the bully, and sending both of them into the ground. Negi slowly stood up and checked over Asuna. She was fine and standing up as well. "Let's get out of here." Negi said.

Back at the Springfield home, Negi and Asuna met up with Negi's sister and they had dinner of Llainfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllantsiliogogoch corned beef hash with some vegetables. "You sure have strange cuisine here." Asuna remarked. "Well, I'm sure if I saw some of the Japanese dishes, I would think them weird too." Negi's sister said. The rest of the evening Negi showed Asuna what British TV was like. The shows were mainly nature and historical in nature. "Your TV shows are very bull." Asuna said. "That's dull." Negi replied. "I guess compared to Japanese TV it is. We believe in the educational value of television. That and there aren't any football matches worth watching." Negi said.

Well, the next day, Asuna and Negi packed up to go. Negi's sister ran into the room of Negi, excited. "Brother, I have great news!" Negi's sister said. I have a report that our father was spotted last night in Texas! They said someone spotted him in a boat in Houston." Negi was filled with joy. It was the first solid lead he had on his father. "That's wonderful! We're going back to Japan today. I'll go there as soon as I can." Negi said. With that, they boarded the train at Llainfairpwll station and rode it back to Heathrow airport. They flew back to Japan with no problems. Asuna showed off the sketches she had made to her friends. "I wish I could have been there." One remarked.
