Burn-up Scramble: Love at Last?

By quamp

Rio was lying in bed after a night of drinking. The TV came on, and her favorite fortuneteller was there. "Okay, Sagittarius! Today you should be extra cautious! It's not a good week to start a love relationship. Your lucky color is pink!" The fortuneteller said. Rio struggled to get out of bed. "Uh... I hate morning people." Rio thought. Well, after a shower, a change into a uniform, and breakfast, she decorated her room in pink and then left.

After riding her bike down to the station, she received a call on her cell phone. There was a code S crisis in the air. Rio went to the elevator and up to the chief's office. There she met Maya and Lilica. Rio saluted the chief and stood to attention. "Officer Rio Kinezono reporting for duty sir!" She said. "At ease, Rio. Our problem today is simple. We have a drug pusher that has stepped over the line and become a class S case." The commander said. "He recently took out officer Junzaka in vice." The ladies knew Junzaka was one of the best vice cops in Tokyo. Rio spoke up. "We'll get on the case right away, sir. Any ideas where he is?" She asked. "We got a tip he's at the airport. Get out there at once!"

A ride to the airport later, Rio and Maya were ready for action. Rio and Maya had changed along the way into their battle outfits. Maya took a position along top of a building. Rio went around and searched the place. She found the drug pusher trying to flee the country. "Stop right there! You're under arrest!" Rio shouted. The drug dealer, instead of bolting, turned around and smiled sinisterly. "So you think you can stop me?" He asked. They stared deep into each other's eyes. Then they started trading blows. He was very talented, but then again, so was Rio. Both of them landed solid blows on each other. It took both of them several punches and kicks, but then both of them fell unconscious. Maya came up from her position and held her gun to the pusher's head. "Stop right there!" She said.

Well, Later on, Rio regained consciousness and was talking with Maya. "Whew. Man, that guy was tough." Rio said. She still felt a bit tender in the ribs where he had punched her. "Man, this sucks." Rio said. "Worst of all, I saw a really cute guy and I didn't get to say hi to him." Rio lamented. "Here we go again." Maya said. "Hey, I know someday my prince charming will come in, and I'll be swept off my feet." Rio said with stars in her eyes. She then held out her arms. "I just know if I reach out for him, he'll be there." Rio added.

"Oh, and I suppose that some hot hunk is just going to fall from the sky right into your arms just because you want it?" Maya asked. She knew that would never happen in a million years.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!" A male voice screamed. Rio looked up in time to hold out her arms and catch a falling man. She caught him and then set him on the ground. "Now I suppose 10 million yen will just fall into my arms now." Maya said with arms outstretched. Nothing happened though. "Damn..." Maya said. Rio was too lost in the face of the man she had caught. Maya merely looked downhearted. "We've lost Rio again." She said. "Sir, do you need medical attention?" Rio asked, her bouncing bosom mere inches from his face. "Sir, are you all right?" Rio asked. "Uh... I must have died and gone to heaven." The man said. Of course, the ample chest of Rio was near his face. "You are very much alive. Tell us who you are what happened to you." Maya said. "Well, my name is Hector and I was in an airplane when this guy jumped out of nowhere and started waving a gun around." Hector said. "He had a whole bunch of bags with this white powder in them, and he ordered me off the plane. I was thrown out at about 200 meters." Rio contemplated the situation. "Hmm... don't worry. We'll capture this thief." Rio said. "Maya and I are the best cops on the force." Well, they took a statement from him and checked him over. Nothing broken or hurt, thankfully.

Well, while they walked to the train station, Rio and Hector talked a bit and got to know each other. "So you're a Sagittarius too? Oh wow!" Rio said in her excitement. Rio saw him to the station, and they stopped outside the turnstiles. "Well, Rio-san, when is your next day off?" He asked. "Well, I don't know..." Rio said. Hector then handed a business card to Rio. "Give me a call when you find out. I would like to take you to dinner." He said. With that, he put his token into the turnstile and went to the platform. Rio put his card in her bra and smiled. After he was out of sight, Rio went bouncing off the walls excited. "WHOOO-HOO! I GOT ME A MAN!!" Rio shouted at the top of her lungs. She paid no attention to Maya, who tried in vain to calm Rio down. "I'm getting the best outfit money can buy for me and I'm going to -" Maya cut her off. "How do youu plan to do that? You said you were flat broke yesterday and payday's not until next week." Maya said. "And don't think of begging me for money." Rio's ego burst like a balloon. "Damn... Why did you have to point that out to me?" Rio asked. "Someone has to keep it real." Maya said.

Rio called Hector up and set a date. That Friday after work, she showered, shaved her legs, picked out a nice dress and put it on. After fixing her makeup and hair, the doorbell rang. "I'm ready, my hearty hunk of man!" Rio said as she opened the door. However, instead of Hector being there, it was Lilica. "Uh... Sempai? Have I picked a bad time to come here?" Lilica asked. "Well, I only was going to have a date with my future husband..." Rio then got very angry. "Of course it's a bad time!" Lilica was apologetic. "I'm... sorry sempai." she said weakly. Then Hector showed up as well.

Lilica was just stunned at what had happened. "Who is that?" She asked. Rio looked up at Lilica, holding up a fist and gritted her teeth at Lilica. "Keep your grubby meathooks off of him he's mine!" Rio shouted. "I'm... I'm sorry, Sempai." Lilica said weakly. Rio then turned back to Hector. "So who's this plucky young lady?" Hector asked. "This is Lilica. She's my co-worker." Rio said. It was at that time Lilica put her hand on Hector's arm. Then she started saying his thoughts aloud. "I've never seen a woman as beautiful as you are, Rio. I'm hoping that you and I can start a love relationship together. Lilica said. "But I really want to marry a woman who loves me for me and not my ¥12,000,000 inheritance."

That did it for Rio.

She held hands with Hector, staring deep into his eyes, and getting yen signs in hers. "I know someone who would love Lilica though..." Hector said. Lilica let go of Hector. Lilica got nervous. "I... I don't know if I'm ready for a boyfriend yet." Lilica said. "Don't worry. I know it takes time to make a good relationship. When you're ready, just tell me." Hector said. He then took Rio on his arm. "So are you ready for a great night tonight?" He asked. "You bet!" Rio replied without thinking. "Sempai..." Lilica said weakly. "Can't you go stay with Maya or Naruko?" Rio asked in a gentle voice, but annoyed. "They sent me here." Lilica replied. "Well, let me call my friend and we'll make it a double date." Hector said.

One phone call later, they arrived outside of Tokyo University. Waiting for them was a freshman in a suit and tie. "You should like each other. Danako is a freshman at Tokyo University." Hector said. They picked up Danako and he met Lilica. "Oh my... She is very beautiful..." Danako said. "Sempai... I'm scared. I feel this warmth in my heart that is making me shake." Lilica said. "Just ignore it and talk to him." Rio responded. Danako and Lilica sat in nervous silence as they went to the restaurant.

At the restaurant Hector and Rio talked and had a good time. Danako and Lilica were silent most of the time. Like Lilica, Danako didn't have much of a social life. He was training to be a doctor and spent most of his life studying for that. That was about the only thing they had in common. After dinner, the four of them went for karaoke.

At the bar, they took turns singing. Sake flowed freely and everyone relaxed. Danako and Lilica started talking and Lilica let it slip that she had psychic powers. That is, right before she fell on top of Danako, putting her ample bosom in his face. "Uh-oh. I forgot about what Lilica is like when she's drunk." Rio said. Lilica was all over Danako like a cheap suit. Danako, for his part, wasn't sure what to do. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view,) Lilica was just as clueless about what to do. "All my life I feel like I've never really had a friend until I meet shempai." She said into Danako's ear. "I've never been kished before." Lilica slurred. "I - I haven't either." Danako said a bit tipsy himself. Lilica planted her lips on Danako's.

Neither one of them were prepared for what happened. They felt a connection the likes of which they never felt before. Rio was too busy singing the theme from Burst Angel to notice what was going on. Danako put his arms around Lilica and held her close. Rio finished the song and then stopped. What she saw shocked her at first: here was Lilica lying on top of Daneko and kissing him. "What!? Lilica scored a kiss first!?" Rio shouted. Hector came up to Rio and put his arm around her. "Well, we can still kiss, right?" He said. Rio smiled at Hector. "Well... All right." Rio replied as she pulled Hector close. Then another man entered the room. He was the owner of the bar. "Sorry, your time is up. You'll have to leave now." He said. "Damnit!" was Rio's reply as she and Hector parted. She then tapped Lilica on the shoulder. "Come on, we have to go home now." Rio slurred. "Aw, sempai, must we?" Lilica asked. "The bar is closing. We got to go." Rio said. Lilica very reluctantly stood up and they went home. At Rio's apartment, Danako and Lilica gave each other a goodbye kiss and parted. Rio and Hector embraced again and tried to go in for the kiss. Unfortunately, Lilica passed out and fell right on top of Rio. "Damnit..." Rio said under her breath.

The next morning both Rio and Lilica woke up with nasty hangovers. "S-sempai... What did I do last night...?" Lilica whispered nervously. "I'm not completely sure." Rio whispered back. "I remember... You lying on top oh him and kissing." Rio said. Lilica was horrified by this. "Oh no... I hope I didn't do that..." Lilica responded. Then the TV came on with Rio's fortune telling show.

"Well, Sagittarius, I warned you against starting a relationship last week. It's going to be a disaster today." Rio's fortuneteller said. "Your lucky color is orange." Rio heard these words. "A disaster?" she thought. "But he seemed so perfect for me!" She thought. She also thought the fortuneteller was never wrong. Well, after getting ready for the day, Rio rode her bike down to police headquarters, taking Lilica with her. Waiting for her was Hector with a single rose. "Welcome, Rio. You look like you need a little pick-me-up now." He said. Rio hesitated for a bit. "So are you free tomorrow night?" Rio turned away from his gaze. "I really like you Hector, but my fortune teller said this was a bad time to start up a relationship." Rio said.

"I was afraid I would have to do this. My fortune teller stated that my soulmate would be stubborn about getting into a relationship." He said. Rio got very nervous. "Ah-heh. Do what?" She asked. Hector smiled at her. "I checked around and found out you've racked up a lot of debt. I bought out all your debts. It's about 500,000 yen." He said. Damn, this guy has me in an awkward position, Rio thought. "So, let me guess: you want me to sleep with you?" She asked. "Not immediately. I want you to be my girlfriend." He said. "I've got a very important function tomorrow night and it requires me to have one." He said. Rio lowered her head and gritted her teeth. "All right, I'll do it." She said. He put an arm around her shoulder and smiled. "Tell me, yesterday, what did the fortune teller say your lucky color was?" He asked. "Green." She replied. "Was it very lucky for you?" He asked. "Uh... Not really." Rio said. "How about the day before that?" He asked. Rio thought for a moment. "That... Fortune teller... is wrong?" She asked. "Well, it would seem that way." He responded. Rio broke down and cried. "All my freakin' bad luck has been due to listening to the wrong fortune teller!! Ah! I wanna tear that charlatan to pieces!!" Rio shouted. Hector managed to calm her down. "Relax, Rio. The important thing is that you follow the right fortune teller now." He said. He gave her the address and told her to be ready tomorrow evening.

Well, the next evening Rio put on a very expensive looking dress and did her hair perfectly. Hector showed up and escorted her to the waiting car. While they drove down to the place, they talked some more. Part of Rio felt he was just feeding her what she wanted to hear. At the dinner, Rio met up with a bunch of Hector's friends. "Whoa mama! She got a sister?" One of them asked. "Back down, Lokoto. This is a woman of class, not to mention she knows a bunch of self-defense. She is a police woman." Rio was getting a bit anxious at this point. "Uh... Why am I the only woman here?" Rio asked. "Well, they're a bit... backwards when it comes to love. But the real person I wanted you to meet should be here any minute." Hector replied. At that moment, a woman in a business outfit entered. She was holding a briefcase and had a sour expression on her face. "Well, let's get down to business, shall we?" She said. "So who's the little tart that's posing as your girlfriend?" Rio was not amused by this statement. "My name is Rio Kinezono, what's yours?" She hissed. "I am Banaka Azumare." She responded. "And I am the executor of the last will of Hector's parents." Rio hesitated. "Oh. Just wondering." She said with a smile and friendly wave. Hector stared grim-faced at Banaka. "She came here of her own free will. You want the fortune that is rightfully mine and I won't let you take it!" Hector said. "Fair enough. You've met the requirement this time. The next one will be revealed next week." She said. With that, Banaka left the room, a look of disapproval on her face. Hector breathed a sigh of relief. "Damn bitch." He said. "I want the complete truth now." Rio demanded. "My parents died under mysterious circumstances about a year ago." Hector said. "She is executor of the will. However, she will not release the details of the will. She just keeps giving me all these conditions for the inheritance." Hector said. "Who gets the money if you fail?" Rio asked. "She does, according to her." Hector replied. "So why haven't you gone to the police?" Rio asked. "I couldn't directly. That's why I looked around and found you." Hector said. "Admittedly at first I thought this would be just a you-scratch-my-back-and-I'll-scratch-yours thing, but now that I've gotten to know you, I have fallen in love with you." He said. "I really want this to last after we break her." Hector said. Rio took this as a challenge. They parted that evening without kissing, however. Rio's landlord broke them up, demanding to know where the rent was. "I've got it here. I wanted to give it to you." Rio said.

The next day Rio was with the warriors talking to Naruko. "Hack around and tell me what you can about this Banaka Azumare." Rio said. "That woman is keeping my man from my money." Maya let out an imperceptible sigh. "You mean his money." She said. "Whatevah. I need information about her and I need it fast!" Rio replied. Naruko got on the case and started searching the Internet. Then Rio reported to the commander. "No! Say it isn't so! My Rio in love with another man!?" The commander said. "How many times do I have to tell you, I don't love you, I never have loved you and I never will love you!" Rio shouted. These words went in one ear and out the other of the commander. "But we make such a wonderful couple! Come on, you know you really want me, right?" The commander asked. "I want to get the warriors involved. There's more than meets the eye here." Rio said. "Fine, get the others involved. But my heart is only for you." Rio could only roll her eyes with disgust....

"So are things ready at your end?" The man asked over the phone. "Almost. We've hit a snag here. That bastard has brought in a bitch from the police force." Banaka replied. "I may have to eliminate her to keep him from the money." There was a small silence. "Get here at once if things get to hot. I don't want that pretty face of yours hurt." The voice said. "Oh, I don't think that will be necessary." She replied. What happened was this: Banaka spent the ¥12,000,000 inheritance already, securing herself one of the Maldives islands. However, she could not get her hands on the money because it was earmarked for Hector. She was trying to deny him the island and his inheritance. Banaka thought up the next hoop she could make him jump through...

"I've been having a devil of a time hacking into their computers because they aren't connected to the Internet." Naruko said. "But I did get some information on Banaka Azumare." Rio stared at Naruko. "Spill it." Rio said. "She graduated from Tokyo University cum laude. She went to business for herself about 15 years ago. She's had a number of clients over the years, dealing mostly with legal documents." Naruko said. "Here's the clincher: right now, her net worth is about -3000 yen. She recently bought an island in the Maldives for ¥12,013,670." Rio was quick to add two and two. "That motherfucking bitch used my money to buy an island!" Rio said. "You mean Hector's money." Naruko said. These words went in one ear of Rio and out the other. "We can't be sure of that yet. However, to get more, I'm going to have to go to her offices and hack her computers." Naruko said.

Two days later, Lilica, Rio and Naruko went down to the law offices of Banaka Azumare, Esq. and associates. "I'm not really sure of what to do." Lilica said. "Just let me do the talking and lean forward a lot." Rio said. Of course, both of them were clad in very low-cut blouses, stiletto heeled shoes and short, tight microskirts. "I'm not sure I feel comfortable doing this." Lilica responded. They all went to the office at night. Rio and Lilica entered first, and went up to the night guard. "Excuse me, but we seem to have lost our way here." Rio said in her sexiest voice. "Sorry, no visitors. Police are down the street." The guard responded coldly. "Aw, come on..." Rio pleaded. "Get lost, bitch." The guard said coldly. Lilica touched the guard's hand and then pulled away. "Let's go, Rio." Lilica said.

Outside, Rio and Lilica talked with Naruko. "What the hell is the holdup?" Naruko asked. "He's gay." Lilica said. "I saw images of naked men in his mind and he was getting turned on by it." Rio thought for a moment. "Damn it! Of all the security guards around here, why did we have to get one that's a fucking fag?" Rio whispered. "We should call the commander on this." Naruko said.

"Whoa! I don't swing that way." The commander said. "Come on, boss. This is for a case. We need you down here now." Rio said. "Fine. I'll be there. However, you owe me for this. I'll get my reward later." He said. About 10 minutes later, he was on site and talking to the guard. The commander wore a tight muscle shirt, shoes and shorts. The commander approached the guard and started talking to him. "Say, I'm just sooooo lost." the commander began. The guard was quite turned on by the commander, and when the commander put his chest near the guard's face, the guard got a nosebleed. Meanwhile, Natsuko snuck in, bypassed the electronic lock and alarm and entered the place. Natsuko had no problem hacking into the computer and burning all the information she needed onto a CD-ROM. After getting all the info, she shut everything down and left. After leaving, the commander left the bleeding security guard and went back to the others. "Did you get what you needed?" He asked. "Got it all here." Naruko said. They went back to headquarters. "Rio, I want to see you in my office alone." The commander said.

They went into his office and he got close to her. "I said you owe me for this. I'm taking my payment now." He said. With that, he placed his hands on Rio's copious mountains, and started fondling her breasts. "Hey! I never agreed to this!" Rio shouted as she kicked him away from her. The commander flew back into the wall and crashed there. "It was worth it." The commander said.

Later on, Rio got a hold of Hector and showed him everything. "We got the real will of your parents." Rio said. "It leaves everything to you." Hector was angry about this. "I want to nail that bitch's ass to the wall!" He shouted. "Calm down. We'll do that soon enough. Now, we need to make everything legal before we take her down." Rio said. "We have to force her to admit she's been doing this." That was a whole lot easier said than done. After all, she had been playing Hector all this time.

"In other news, a major earthquake has struck the Maldives Islands. Buildings and trees fell like sacks of lead and hundreds of people are dead, including the Maldives prime minister. No building went undamaged, and the earthquake was felt as far away as Calcutta. International relief efforts are going to be very slow, as many of the relief agencies are still trying to help out the flood-ravaged Pakistan, because of last month's flood of the Indus River." The newscaster said. Banaka Azumare spat out her morning tea at the news. "There is little money for anything in the region and everyone is being asked to give what they can to help." Banaka struggled to get her words out. "My island! The hotel! Leveled!? What about my Takeno!?" She said with exasperation. "No known survivors have been found." Banaka was horrified at this. "NNNNOOOOOO!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. It was at that point that there was a knock at the door. Rio and Hector showed up. They were confronting Banaka about her deeds. Since there was no response, they opened the door and found Banaka crying, face buried in her hands. "We found out you've used his inheritance to buy that island in the Maldives. Give it up, sister!" Rio shouted. "I'm fucking wiped out!" Banaka said. "An earthquake hit the island. Everything on it was destroyed!" Banaka broke down and cried. Tears streamed from her face. "Well missy, you're also going to jail too." Rio said. You might as well admit it because we know what you did." Banaka continued to cry. "All right! I did it! I used his money to buy that island! All I wanted was a happy life for my man and I." She said. Rio slapped the handcuffs on Banaka.

After everything had settled down, Rio was left with Hector alone. "I was able to sell the island for 500,000 yen. Just enough to pay your debts." Rio seemed apologetic. "I wish I could have gotten everything for you." She said. "You've given me something I've wanted all my life - love. That, to me, is more important than any money." Hector said. He then pulled Rio close and she returned his embrace.

They moved in for a kiss when the commander interrupted them. "Rio! Good news!" Rio was able to control her anger at this point, but only barely. She parted from Hector and spun around. "What is it!?" She asked annoyance and anger coming through loud and clear. "You've got a small reward for getting Banaka. She was blackmailing a politician as well." He then gave Rio an envelope. "Your reward is 25,000 yen." Rio took the money and put it between her ample mountains. Hector then pulled Rio close to himself. "Let's just kiss no matter what happens." He said.

At long last, they kissed.

Both Rio and Hector were filled with an intense passion beyond compare. Tongues played with each other like great musicians play with their instruments. Both of them felt a pleasure beyond compare, and neither one of them wanted to stop. When they finally did come for air, both of them moaned softly into each other's ear. "I'll give you a call, all right?" Hector said. Rio reluctantly let him go. "Do you really have to go now?" Rio asked. Hector smiled. "Come on. Let's get some sashimi." He said.
