Yes, this is the 'English Rose' version, not the 'Marilyn Monroe' version, but that's strictly because the mp3 I've got for this file has the english rose lyrics. I personally don't think that one rich woman getting killed because she was driving too fast in a car with a drunken driver is the greatest tragedy ever! I don't cry over people I don't know. Well, maybe a tear or two for Kurt Cobain... ;) But all that aside, this is a great song, and easy to play too. Elton John played it in E so I transcribed it in E, but I think it sounds better on guitar in the key of C because than you can use just open position chords instead of barred chords like B and C#m. So if you wanna play it in C just follow this: Any E chord here becomes a C (x32010) Any A chord here becomes a F (133211) Any B chord here becomes a G (320033) Any C#m chord here becomes a Am (x02210) Try that if you want it to sound better! INTRO: ------ B A E B [stop] VERSE 1: -------- E Goodbye England's Rose A May you ever grow in our hearts E You were the grace that placed yourself A Where lives were torn apart E You called out to our country A And you whispered to those in pain E Now you belong to heaven A And the stars spell out your name CHORUS: ------- B And it seems to me you've lived your life E A Like a candle in the wind E Never fading with the sunset B When the rain set in A And your footsteps will always fall here C#m [stop] Along England's greenest hills B Your candle's burned out long before A E B A E B Your legend ever will VERSE 2: [play like verse 1] -------- Loveliness we've lost Those empty days, without your smile This torch will always carry for our nation's golden child Even though we try The truth brings out the tears All our words can not express The joy you brought us through the years CHORUS: [play like first chorus] ------- And it seems to me you've lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never fading with the sunset When the rain set in And your footsteps will always fall here Along England's greenest hills Your candle's burned out long before Your legend ever will VERSE 3: [play like verses 1 & 2] -------- Goodbye England's rose May you ever, grow in our hearts You were the grace that placed yourself Where lives were torn apart Goodbye England's rose From the country lost, without your soul We'll miss the wings of your compassion More than you will ever know CHORUS: ------- B And it seems to me you've lived your life E A Like a candle in the wind E Never fading with the sunset B When the rain set in A And your footsteps will always fall here C#m [stop] Along England's greenest hills B Your candle's burned out long before A E Your legend ever will ********************************************************************** Questions, comments, corrections, requests, send to: qualitytabs@qualitytabs.tk ********************************************************************** Visit the QUALITY TABS INC.
