| I am and up and coming 16 year old Who fan. One of my teachers is allowing me to write an analysis of the album Quadrophenia. I'm trying to include as much background information as I can find about the group itself, and also about the mod way of life. Which brings me to ask, where exactly did the target thing originate from and what exactly does it mean? Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. -Abby |
| Thanks for your question! The target logo was created by Richard Barnes, a long time Who associate and close friend of Pete. Barnes also created many of the Who's gig posters and even their arrow logo. The target, as far as I know, is just a pop-art novelty used for advertisements that later became a mod icon. Pop-art refers to the 1960's philosophy that emerged alongside mod culture. (See pictures below.) Catchy singles, the newest dance moves, colorful, whimsical clothing, and R&B tunes to boot.
