TO GET UNSTUCK IN TIME

A call connects present to the past. Then everything is changed...

wow this drama was good. lol. i couldn't stop watching! so many twists and turns. but i don't want to overrate it. lol. i haven't seen a cop drama in a long time [with the exception of Angels of Mission, but that one wasn't too engaging].

roger was pretty good, but no breakthroughs. i still like him in Square Pegs better. he's so cute when he smiles! such boyish charm. lol. i thought it was kinda nice that his character was so "chung těnh"/"suy těnh" [faithful], but it got kinda annoying when he was trying to make nicole remember.

as for flora, i thought she was GREAT! i've never been a huge fan, but man...i thot she was pretty good. well, i don't know if i can rate her tho since i've only seen her in one other drama: Triumph in the Skies. i didn't like her character too much in that one. on the other hand, there were some parts where she was really convincing [like when she started hallucinating and stuff after her husband died]. anyways, back to TGUIT...she's a good evil. that last half of the drama where she was part of the triads, i was terrified. evil evil evil! she's so scary looking when she fights! lol. i like her wardrobe too. especially when she was nicole. very nice. oh, and i don't know if this is just a coincidence or what, but she seems to like playing characters with the same name as her [shan]. what's up with that?

imo, cherie kong improved vastly from Lady Fan. i found her much more believable. i thot her best part was the first time she found out who her parents were. very nice.

oh, and patrick tang. overall, i thought his performance was mediocre, but he was good in the Cupid's Diamond case. gosh i hated him. he also has a pretty good singing voice [he sang the themesong of this series].

shek sau wasn't evil in this series. what a shame. lol. i enjoy watching him be evil. he's just so good at it.

i think in this series, the cases stand out the most. everything else isn't too interesting. even roger and flora's relationship and roger and his dad's relationship weren't too intriguing. it was nice and all, but it was kinda like "ehh...". and it just seemed a little too convenient that all the cases just happened to coincide with the time his dad was living in. i think my favorite cases were when he wasn't around...

tiffany tse is so cute!! :pleased: [she plays little shan]

anyways, the ending was kinda lame. it wasn't bad or sad, but it wasn't exactly happy either. everything was kinda restored to status quo...in a way. lol. everything was wrapped up neatly, but it wasn't happy. it's kinda hard to explain. let me just say it was lame, and didn't quite work for me, and leave it at that.

also, it REALLY slowed down at the end. actually, the entire drama had a tendency of doing that. like, they crammed 4 cases into the first half of the drama and the entire second half was basically one case. it had a lot of twists, but still, one case. and then like the last 2 chinese episodes just wrapped everything up. NOTHING happened, except for confessions and stuff. anyways, i know that part was touching and all, but i just couldn't help it. i was sitting there just waiting for it to end. i guess cuz it was so fast-paced and suspenseful throughout and immediately before everything ended that i wasn't used to not much happening.

oh, and some things i didn't get:
~
if flora can't use her legs, then how can she drive a car? and get in and out so easily without a lift? i don't know if it's just cuz i didn't pay close enuf attn or what, but i didn't see any other accomodations for her either [like a hand-operated acceleration pedal]. *shrug*
~ are knife fights really popular amongst the gangs of hk? i mean, i really don't think it's very practical anymore, and yet, most of the gang fights were knife fights. maybe i just don't know enuf about the triads.
~ why does herman make it seem so easy to hypnotize ppl? at least some of the other psych stuff was on the mark, more or less.
~ what kind of weird morse code did roger and his dad use? did i miss something? cuz that's not the morse code i know. the only letter that kind of corresponded was "u" [.._].

i didn't really have any favorite scenes in this drama, so here are my fave cases:
~ the first one. i don't know what to call it. i can't remember that far back. lol.
~ Cupid's diamond. that was such a good setup.
~ the last one. that was pretty messed.

bottom line: worth watching. probably the best series of 2004 [so far, but it's been kinda a low-key year for tvb].

][ EDIT ][: i take it back. there was this scene i really liked. it was toward the end, when nicole realizes that morning sir hasn't loved her all along--that he's just been confusing her with shan. i thot that was really powerful. oh, and when tin kwong and his dad were reunited at the airport was really sweet too. wish that would happen to me...maybe in 19 yrs....
