ANGELS OF MISSION

Police Force CTU's angels are all set to fight against terrorism!

this series totally surprised me. the only reason i got it was becuase i wanted to see the 3 main actresses together. this is supposedly the hk version of charlie's angels, so i wasn't expecting much since asian versions of western movies suck. so i am actually kind of ashamed to say that i really enjoyed this series. it's basically the asian version of charlie's angels, which never really appealed to me. however, i may have to rethink my bias.

this is pretty much your basic cop movie. but it's not as intense. it's very mellow. the cases aren't too difficult and the romances aren't too complicated. imo, it's just enuf to make it interesting, but not exhausting or extremely frustrating. it was also rather funny at times.

the role/performer that stood out most for me was ky` (or sam) played by sonija kwok. before this series, i absolutely HATED sonija kwok. i saw her in a step into the past, and i thot she sucked. then i saw her in perish in the name of love. she was actually pretty good, but she played the antagonist, meaning that she was evil, and boy did she do a good job. so i acknowledged that she was good, but her character was so hatable that i gia^.n la^y her. anyway, i liked her in this series. not outstanding, but just enuf to overcome my hate of her. a lot of ppl didn't like her (and this series) since she was kinda of "slutty" and the series is a little risque according to asian standards, but i felt it was just fine. note, tho, that i was very careful to make sure that my mom wasn't around when i was watching it. not that it's bad enuf to shock my mom, but it's enuf to make me uncomfortable watching it with her and it's enuf for her to potentially lecture me. so i just thot i'd spare myself

it was also nice to see charmaine sheh playing a stronger character. she's usually so weak and emotional. actually, her roles are ok. it's just that i noticed her for the first time in tuyet son phi ho [flying fox snowy mountain (?)] remake and her character couldn't do anything for herself and just pissed me off in general.
this was the first time i've seen shirley yeung. didn't do anything for me. wasn't good, wasn't bad. although, her character was a little too bubbly sometimes. i just like her dimples.

i also really liked stephen au in this movie. i usually hate him with a passion for the same reason i hated sonija, but he was just so cute!! i saw him like...5 or 10 years ago in ten tigers of quang dong (anh hung quang dong thap ho). i do'nt really remember what i thot of him then. i do'nt think i liked him much tho. his character was very bland so his acting couln't be great either. then i saw him in ups and downs in the sea of love (tieng set ai tinh) and he was pure evil. however, his character was awesome in this series. acting was ok. nothing special. anyways, i think he and fa should've gotten together. so perfect for each other.

the ending kinda sucked. i mean, it was nice that the girls were back to the beginning, but arg! *SPOILER!!* (sorta) patrick was stuck choosing between hoa (charmaine) and ky (sonija), but i really couldn't feel him and sonija. by the end, i felt that he liked charmaine more. the only reason i felt he couldn't choose was because he didn't want to ruin the girls' friendship. but i still like wallace (stephen) and hoa (charmaine). he was so good to her, and they were so perfect for each other... *sighs dreamily*

bottom line: i cannot figure out for the life of me why i liked this drama as much as i did, but, fact is, i did.
