This year marks TVB's 38th anniversary. TVB is making some drastic changes this year involving the format and content of the show. The awards show will cut down on performances and focus more on awards. Awards previously named "My Favourite Lead" have been renamed to "Best Actor/Actress." "Most Extraordinary Artiste" has been eliminated altogether in favour of "Best Supporting." The 12 "Most Favourite Character" awards have also been eliminated.

This year's awards features 14 categories:

The first twelve awards will be open to audience voting. Also new this year, overseas viewers will be able to vote for the first two categories. The last two categories will be voted upon by a panel of representatives from various areas in HK. Awards will be handed out based on worldwide audience votes, producers, and a panel of judges.
