QSP 2007-2008 NHL REGULAR SEASON HOCKEY POOL

Rules

1.     During the 2007-08 NHL regular season, participants in the pool will pick one (1) team to win each Saturday that there is an NHL game being played.

2.     There is no limit to the number of times you can pick a team, but you can not choose the same team two (2) weeks in a row.

3.     Your pick must be submitted to the pool Commissioner, Thomas Roberts, no later than 12 noon of each Saturday that there is a game to following address:  [email protected] (this email link & the one on the front page works only if you have set up an email account within your web browser).  In the subject line of the email, please type in “Hockey Pick Week X” (Where X is the week number for that pick).

4.     A non-pick will be given a LOSS and a penalty of zero (0) points.

5.     An additional one (1) point will be award each week to every member of a division, where their collective winning percentage is above fifty (50%) percent.  Therefore, to help your fellow division members, make sure you submit a pick each week to increase your divisions chance for winning the bonus point.

6.     Divisions will be created based on random selection and supervised by the pool Commissioner and Shawn Dickie.  The participants will be divided into divisions to make the number of participants in each division as equal as possible.

7.     The person who accumulates the most points over the course of the regular season will be considered the pool winner.

8.     In the instance of a tie, at any position in the standings and at any time over the duration of the pool, please refer to the “Tie Breakers” section below.

9.     $5 (five) dollar entry fee must be paid to the pool Commissioner no later than 12 noon Friday, October 13th.  For those at the Chesswood office please give your fee to Frank.  Anyone else interested at other off-site locations please contact the pool Commissioner.

Scoring

Points will be awarded (added or subtracted from your total) based on the differential in points of the final score of the game of the team that you chose.  Sound confusing?  It really isn’t.  Here are a couple of examples:

WIN EXAMPLE (points added): You picked PIT to beat ATL.  The final score is 6 to 2 for PIT.  You would get 4 points added to your total score (6-2 = +4 points).

LOSS EXAMPLE (points subtracted): You picked TOR to beat BOS.  The final score is 5 to 4 for BOS.  You would get 1 point subtracted from your total score (4-5 = -1 point).

It’s as simple as that!

Prizes

First Place – your name will be engraved on “The Preston” (as long as you are a QSP employee).

- 70% of the total prize money.

Second Place – 20% of the total prize money.

Third Place – 10% of the total prize money.

Tie Breakers

In the event that there are participants who are tied the following shall be considered the order to break the tie:

a.     The total number of WINS each person has.

b.     WIN points will be grouped in order of highest differential to lowest differential.  The winner will be decided by whoever has the most number of WINS in the highest differential group.  If still tied, the second highest group will decide the winner and so on.  See example below.

c.     Whoever has the longest WIN streak at any point during the pool.

d.     Best of five “Rock/Paper/Scissors” sudden death face-off!
