CLUB HISTORY

The Queen's Park Supporters Team were formed in 1987 when our application to join the Scottish Supporters League was accepted.

Previous to this there had been an annual contest with Meadowbank Supporters for the prestigious Meadowbank Trophy.

It was thanks to Meadowbank Team'85's that we got into the Supporters League as their Manager, Colin McPherson, was the Chairman of the League at the time and gave us a lot of good advice before we joined.

In 1987
Iain Campbell and Michael Higgins took over the running of the side and the team played its first game on August 9th 1987, a friendly, against Hearts on Queen's Park Recs. The game ended goalless and the team in the first game was :-
Neil McAllister, Martin Harvey, Alan Raeburn, Ronnie Burns (c), Alan Dickson, Barry Haniford, David Nisbet, Hector Cook, Gordon Hunter, Ronnie Smith and Iain Campbell.

Our first season in the Supporters League saw us finish fourth and we were the only team to play all our games, including two on successive days at Alloa and Meadowbank B.

In all we played forty five games and our away games in Edinburgh were especially memorable for the camaraderie that we built up with Team'85, Hearts, Hibs and Dundee United.

The season ended with our first away trip as we travelled to London at the invitation of Leyton Orient supporters and we came back with the Anglo/Scottish trophy which is still played for today.

The following two seasons we were League Champions and then finished second on goal difference in the next two.

The team remained in the Supporters League for two more unsuccessful seasons before resigning to play friendlies.

Since 1994/95 the team has continued, playing as many games per season as possible against other Supporters Teams, local teams, works teams and anybody else available.

One of the major success of the team, outside the Supporters League, has been the friendships made with Enlgish and Welsh football supporters. On numerous occasions the team has travelled to Leyton, Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, Peterborough, Nottingham, Tranmere, Whitby and Doncaster to play in tournaments and also one off friendlies.

Since 1987 we have organised our own tournament and in 2009 we had our first overseas visitors in Paris St.Germain from Belgium.

At the start of season 09/10 we went back to our roots, after many years absence, and we now have a large group of genuine Queen's Park FC supporters playing for the team.
