CHAOS CUP 2005

The CHAOS Cup  was again enjoyed by all our team who took part.

There were a few late call offs but we still managed a squad of seven who were:- John Crosbie, Barry Cook, Alan Main, Paul Joyce, Alistair Dorward, John Kirkland and Iain Smith. Smudger travelling down from Nottingham for the weekend to take part.

The Friday night was relatively uneventful although Paul, previously the quiet man of the team, seemed a bit affected by the heat, oh, and the Jack Daniels.

Saturday was the big day at the Doguals Eyre Sports Centre in Walthamstow and we drawn against Cardiff, Bristol Rovers and Loft (a Leyton Orient side).

A win (Cardiff), a draw( Loft) and a defeat (Bristol Rovers) saw us end up in the Plate, a competition which, of course, we were the holders.

Into the semis and we were up against Dynamo, who had also travelled down from Glasgow for the weekend.

Unfortunately, in a bruising encounter, we lost 2-1 and Barry also suffered concussion which put him out of the main action at night.

Barry wasn't the only one injured throughout the day though as Crossers (inevitably) broke a finger and Young Al received a blow to his arm which resulted in two weeks off his work (not all bad then !).

A good night was had by all in the Walthamstow Town Hall Social Club where the presentaions were made with Celtic winning the CHAOS Cup, Torquay winning the Plate and our very own Smudger winning the Player of the Tournament.

The Sunday, as ever, was spent in the Birkbeck pub and a long and enjoyable day ended very late as our team were staying in the pub.

To add to the injuries, Barry recovered from concussion but then came out in chicken pox on the Monday on the way home !

Once again a big thanks to all in Leyton for their hospitality especially Joan at the Birkbeck and Woody who provided accomodation for our lot.
