THE CHAOS CUP 2003
(Childrens Holidays and Other Specialties)

After a thirteen hour train journey, a very weakened squad, eighty degree heat, little sleep (Ed: that's enough excuses) this year's CHAOS Cup ended in failure for our heroes after we played five games, drew three, lost two and never scored a goal !!!!

Reading 0-0
Shrewsbury 0-0
Bristol Rovers 0-1
Birmingham City 0-3
Leyton Orientear B 0-0

Only four of us, Mr C, Big Tam, Crossers and Danny (non-playing physio) travelled from Glasgow on the Friday and we set out on the 13.40 train to London.

Two hours later we were back in Glasgow after flash floods had closed the line ahead.

We then broke down near Carlisle, sat at Preston for about an hour and eventually crept into london at 03.15 in the morning !

To make matters worse (if possible) the carry out didn't last long and we were forced into the emergency supply of vodka far earlier than expected.

We reached Raph the Taff's about 03.45 and everybody crashed out immediately so we were still pretty knackered the next day when the football took place.

Young Smudger made it down from Nottingham to up the playing numbers and we called upon various locals to make up our numbers especially as Mr C only played in one game siting a sore foot as his reason for wimping out.

After five games, three goalless draws and no goals scored we at last got back to the pub to recover.

At night we were at the Walthamstow Town Hall for the evening activities and Smudger managed to get a nomination for Player of the Tournament but lost out in the end.

A long day and we were still knackered when the night finished.

The Sunday was more relaxed and it was spent in the Birkbeck all day as we woke up and came into our own.

Crossers certainly made an impression on the locals on his first trip down and kept everybody happy with his brilliant jokes !

We even managed to win the quiz at night and a much better day was had by all.

We got home on the Monday on time and it was an enjoyable trip after the worst start imaginable.
