QUILCHENA PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PAC)

INFORMATION FROM VARIOUS PAC VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES

May Sports Day PAC Activities

Sports Day is held annually in May.

A volunteer is needed to co-ordinate Q's Sports Day PAC activities.

There is a list of PAC volunteers for Sports Day that the coordinator can begin working with.

Sports Day is a wonderful activity for Q students and coordinating the PAC activities at this event is a very worthwhile way to help enhance your child's school experience. The annual Sports Day PAC activities contribute to our student's important sense of community.

The teachers organize all the sporting events. Usually Point Grey Secondary students help with the sporting events.

The Sports Day volunteer coordinator arranges the following:

- parent volunteers to help supervise a bicycle parade at the beginning of Sports Day.
- parent volunteers to help supervise a toddlers race at the beginning of Sports Day.
- some years parents volunteer to race.
- some years teachers volunteer to race.
- PAC donates a juice and cookie during the sporting activities and a 'freezy' at the end, for each student. Parent volunteers  organize the handing out of these snacks.
- parent volunteers to organize the ordering and payment by students for a pizza or hot dog (catered) lunch, plus the handing out by class of the lunches at the end of the sporting activities.
- parent volunteers to organize the selling of coffee and doughnuts to parents during the sporting activities.

Sports Day is held outdoors, weather permitting (otherwise in the gym and corridors).

Please consider volunteering. If you are interested contact the current PAC Co-Chair.

Thank you.

From,
The current PAC Volunteer Coordinator
