PAC Library Support

There are volunteers helping in the library.

PAC run an autumn book fair to raise money for books for the library and encourages parents to purchase books for their students' classrooms.

In 2003-4 a group of parents, co-ordinated by Michelle R., explored the possibility of renovating the library.

The school web site http://quilchena.vsb.bc.ca has a library section with information about supprting the library, including a link to the Canadian Coalition For School Libraries

BC Coalition for School Libraries

Research shows that schools with well-stocked libraries, managed by qualified teacher-librarians, achieve standardized test scores that are 15-20% higher than in schools without a library and library teaching program.

The BC Coalition for School Libraries is a group of concerned citizens, businesses and community groups, working to improve school library programs in this province. There is no such thing as a good education without good libraries.

Note: PAC encourages parents to consider being part of the BIRTHDAY BOOK/SOFTWARE CLUB. The club invites you to remember that you can donate a book to the library/classroom or software to the Computer Lab/classroom as a way to honour your child's birthday. Let your child choose the book/software of their liking.
