FROM VARIOUS PAC VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES
PAC Family June BBQ
A volunteer is needed to co-ordinate QPAC's annual family BBQ in June.
There is a list of PAC volunteers for the BBQ that the co-ordinator can begin working with.
The PAC family BBQ is a wonderful activity for Q students and co-ordinating this event is a very worthwhile way to help enhance your child's school experience. The annual BBQ contributes to our student's important sense of school spirit and community.
The BBQ is held in June as the evenings are longer. The BBQ is held outdoors, weather permitting (otherwise in the gym).
The BBQ coordinator arranges the following:
- booking a BBQ caterer.
- parent
volunteers to organize the ordering and payment by families for
BBQ
dinners, plus sometimes helping the caterers hand out the dinners
the
evening of the BBQ. Dinner includes a stand with ie. lemonade and water.
- parent
volunteers to help set up tables and decorate (ie. balloons
and/or
table flowers).
- parent
volunteers (fathers are particularly encouraged) to organize
game
activities for the students. Some years grade 6 and 7 students have
been
asked to help. If the older students are not busy helping,
sometimes
a sporting type game is arranged for them.
- parent volunteers to bring desserts.
- parents
volunteers to run, the evening of the BBQ, a small raffle or
50/50
to benefit PAC.
- parent volunteers for clean-up.
- if
the next year grade 7 students are planning a special trip, they
sometimes
promote their own fundraiser (ie. a flower bulb or pizza sale
for
a trip to Quebec) during the BBQ.
