History of the Games
In the before time, the time after Kahless united The Empire, he saw that petty wars between houses were threatening to tear apart this new Empire.  He knew that with unity, the essence of being Klingon, of being a warrior race, was stifled by a lack of enemies.  It was still the time before extensive interstellar flight was accomplished thus limiting the supply of foes to be conquered.

Being the pragmatic and dogmatic sort of Kingon he was, Kahless thought long about what he could do to further unite his people without killing their very being.  He saw that honor would not be served by the wars between his people.  He knew that all his work would be for nothing if he didn't act soon.  Then, like a disruptor cannon blast, it struck him.  He knew this idea would allow the vision of the Klingon race to rise above the tree tops and into the stars and to raise themselves up out of the mire of petty squabbles to become what their destiny demanded they become.  Warriors to be feared, not by each other, but by the entire galaxy and, yes, even the universe!  Kahless commanded that games be created that honed and tested the skills and mettle of these warriors without unacceptable loss of Klingon life.  These games have come to be known as the Year Games.

Because of simulated battle scenarios and something called the Duel Circle, a place where differences between individuals and Houses could be settled honorably, the games became very popular.  The Year Games have endured to this day as a tradition to be treasured as a fundamental part of Klingon life.

For a time, the games were almost forgotten.  Then they had new life infused into them in a province of The Empire called oHaI'o.  After a few years, a form of the Year Games was introduced to the new system in The Empire named
'Iw ta' where its popularity grows even now.
