             Meet
SeaWorld's latest baby animals.
           
Information about eggs and live young.
            
Click on any bear species for information about reproduction.

Day 2:  Read Usborne p. 328-329  Life Cycles
             Visit the
London Butterfly House for an animated description of a butterfly life cycle.
           
Learn about the life cycle of a salmon.
            
Track the migration of whales, eagles, and other animals.
             Draw a diagram of the life cycle of a frog, locust, or butterfly.

Day 3:  Read Usborne  p. 330-331
             An
introduction to ecology and biomes.
            
Take a tour of a rainforest in Suriname.

weeks 6-11
Day 1:  Read Usborne p. 154-155
            Watch a
movie about the Big Bang  (remember this is just a theory)
           
Read about the universe, do one of the Universe Activities

Day 2:  Read Usborne p. 156-157
            Check out

Day 3;  Read Usborne p. 158-159   Stars
             Make your own chart showing the birth of a star, put in your notebook

Day 4:  Read Usborne p. 160-161  Constellations
             Explore this site for
pictures of the constellations
             Find at least 4 constellations in the night sky
             Try these connect-the-stars

Day 5:  Read Usborne p. 162 The Sun and the Solar System
             Try looking at sunspots --
DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN!!!!--
              Point a pair of binoculars the the Sun with a piece of white cardboard behind                    them.  Move the binoculars around until a white circle appears on the cardboard,               then focus them until the image is sharp.  You may see dark smudges on the                     image.  These are sunspots.

Weeks 6-10  Use this site and take their
online course in astronomy.  Start with course 1, you should be able to do 2 "packets" per week.  You can follow along with the Usborne book pages 164-177.  Keep your paperwork in your science notebook.
Week 11  Do your Final Project from the astronomy course.
