15th April 1989, FA Cup Semi-final at Hillsborough between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. A day I would rather forget but which I shall never for as long as I live. My own personal memory of the match, or whatever was played of it, is now vague and includes that of Liverpool hitting the post in the early minutes. The match soon became secondary though, and football to me was never the same again. Resulted in the Taylor report that banned stands/terraces, the result of which was the loss of Anfield's beloved Spion Kop end. Sadly, I shall never have the experience of standing at that famous end. |
