The Friends of the QNHS library began in early 2006 as an advocacy group to build a new, user-friendly and functional library on the campus of the Quezon National high School,  Lucena City, Philippines. The Friends work hand on hand with the National High School Alumni Foundation in the implementation of its many physical and infrastructural projects.
Building a new library at Quezon  High was initiated by Estela Lopez Manila, a QPHS  alumna, a former QPHS librarian and has been for many years a librarian in the United States,  State of California.
Negotiations with the administrators of the school and the board members of the Alumni Foundation were carried out followed by several phone calls and email campaigns to friends and alumni in the Philippines and the United States. An outpouring of support came out of this initial outreach and a core body of alumni, namely Isabel Losloso Rivera, Lina Villenas and Eunice Queneri laid the Foundation for a Friends Group. There are now 9 members of the Board of Directors namely : Amada Sarnate Bouffard, MD Angelito Evora, Nonoy Libosada, Timoteo Navaja,  Eunice Queneri, Delia Paunil -Timonera, RN  and  Lilia T. Gracerez..
The Friends was formally incorporated in June 2006 and the articles of incorporation were filed with Mr. Bruce Mcpherson, Secretary of State, State of California on May 22, 2006.
